A Twist in Time (1)

"James what is it?" Harry asked as the Golden Trio arrived next to James who had dropped to his knees when he spoke in a voice that did not belong to him.

'Another Potter, that is another Potter to kill. You are hear by warned, I Lord Voldemort will kill this Generation of Potters and the next one. Harry Potter has bested me four times on mere flukes but it will not happen again even if there is another Potter.'

The pain vanished as quick as it had come and James was back to his normal self, or so he thought. "Bloody hell," James muttered rubbing his forehead. The scar was hidden magically however James could still feel it as he ran his sore hand over it.
"What was that?" Ron asked looking at James with alarm.
"Eh, I'm going to guess Voldemort found some stuff out... well I knew he would eventually anyway," James answered as he stood up from his place on the ground. He was feeling much better then he had before but some of his muscles were sour.
"I suppose, do you wan't to still make the plan for tonight?" Harry asked as James walked over to one of the chairs by the fire, the others took the chairs around him.
"I'm fine, I just need a couple of minutes," James stated as he rubbed his temple in thought. Everyone sat silently for a couple of minutes until James stood up and walked over to the desk where he pulled out some quill and parchment where he started scribbling stuff down, to anyone else it would have made absolutely no sense but to his father in the future it would have made perfect sense. It was a code they had made to make sure no one understood what was happening. He told him exactly what Voldemort had made him say in their code. The pulled out the mirror and placed it against the cool glass screen where it disappeared as it was sent to the future. James hadn't realized that Harry, Ron and Hermione were staring at where the parchment had just been.
"What did that say?" Hermione asked in astonishment. James turned around in surprise having just realized that Harry, Ron and Hermione they were right behind them.
"Oh, it was just a simple code, I just told my Dad about what just happened. Then I sent it through time using this mirror, simple enough," James explained as he stood from his seat. 
"Well, that's brilliant but didn't you say you had a spell you wanted to show us?" Ron asked stepping away from the desk.
"Oh, yeah of course I made it the other night. Basically, it well it's complicated," James told them walking back into the middle of the room.
"Well, then what does it do?" Harry asked interested. 
"It kind of, well it's very difficult and very specific. Basically, it well it," James stuttered trying to think of how to explain the spell.
"Get on with it," Ron told him.
"It's just complicated and I'm not sure how to explain it, I guess I might as well just show you," James answered before withdrawing his wand once again. He help it up in the air and send in an incantation 'Phoerdre'  James said it without much power as he just wanted it to display in the room. What shot out of his wand was a phoenix that greatly resembled Fawkes in Harry's opinion. "Basically, it's like the dark mark but for the Order of The Phoenix and the DA. I don't know if the order will like it but I thought it might be useful."
"That's incredible James how did you do that in one night?" Hermione asked in pure shock.
"It's not that hard actually, I used the same format as the Dark Mark but made it look like a phoenix but that's not the only spell I made, this next one is more useful in battle," James explained with a shrug raising his wand once more. This time however, he aimed it at a model of a wizard holding a wand, 'Expellify.' He yelled and the fake wand flew out of his hand where as the wizard was stunned as if he had been hit with stupify. "I thought this spell might be useful in battles as Voldemort and Death Eaters don't know what if is so they will be caught off guard."
"That's brilliant James! How did you make that?" Hermione demanded.
"Actually I was just bored and decided to come down here and play around with a few spells, I didn't expect it to actually work," James answered with another shrug, "It's quite simple to learn actually."
"What's the incantation again?" Harry asked pulling out his wand.
"It's Expellify, sort of a mix between Expelliarmus and Stupify. The wand movement is like a box shape," James explained as he did the wand movement with his hand.
"Okay, I think I'm going to try it out," Hermione stated pulling out her wand and aiming it at another statue.
'Expellify' Hermione yelled, it worked but it simply wasn't as powerful as when James had done it as it was only her first time using it. James nodded with a grin, as Harry and Ron tried for the first time as well.
"Well, I thought we might be able to I don't know teach it later, it's not too bad to learn I suppose," James told them with a small grin on his features.
"Great idea, we'll teach both of them. Of course you'll have to do most of the teaching as we just learned them today, of course we may be able to learn them with a bit of practice," Hermione told them with a smile. That is exactly what they did, they practiced for hours until Harry, Ron and Hermione had mastered both of the spells that James had made. The Trio thought they were absolutely amazing, the spells would be absolutely amazing, the best use of the phoenix spell would be for if there was a battle they would be able to call for help and when they defeated Voldemort they would be able to say so. They had stopped for lunch but right after they went back to practicing and making a lesson plan, it wasn't until much later that James received a reply from his father, he had left the mirror on the desk and as he went to retrieve it as they were heading down for dinner he saw that a piece of parchment with writing in their code was on it. 

We knew this would be coming on for a long time, however I've realized something strange. If you are in my fifth year then I should be able to remember you, however I don't not at all. I don't know why I don't remember but it could be as simple as a memory charm on those you met or affected, I'll keep my eyes open but then again I probably wouldn't realize the change in memory but who knows. All I know is that you need to be careful. Your Mother is worried sick and for when you return whenever that may be I think Teddy may have a few choice words. Lily told me to tell you that she knew you were doing it for the right cause and that you meant best, however she is very mad that you did not say goodbye and simply had Dumbledore send them away. Your Aunt and Uncle also told me to tell you that quote "You better not be as big of a git as your father was when we were fifteen. Harry was moody, don't become that moody alright?" 
I'm afraid I have an important meeting with the Minister, I would right more but remember we need to keep in touch. I think your mother would be furious if you didn't call using the mirror. Goodbye for now James, I know we'll talk again soon.

James read through it twice in his head thinking. That was interesting, his father didn't remember him, does that mean he wasn't going to make it out of this alive?
