"So, you don't know who we are?"
"Should I?"
"Uh, yeah! I'm Tony Stark! Iron Man? Savior of New York? We're the Avengers!"
I swear I heard crickets.
Tony's POV
"Uh, ok?" the boy said.
Seriously, he didn't know me- uh, us?! "Have you been living under a rock?" Clint asked. The boy's eyes became more guarded.
"You could say that. Now if you don't have an actual reason for talking to me, my would have been fiance is next for my time." He turned to go, but Cap put his hand on the kid's shoulder.
"Listen, son. I'm sorry for your loss, but we need you to come with us."
Now the kid looked angry. "Can I at least finish my grieving before someone tries to kill me? I still haven't talked to A-Annabeth, or Mom, or Paul-"
"Now." Nat said, but the kid was on a roll.
"-Or my unborn sister, or Michael, or Pollux. I still have most of my family left."
"Wait, these are all your family?"
"Yes. Cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, mom, step-dad. They're all here. Me and Leo are the only ones left."
"Oh. Guys, c'mere."
I led them away, out of earshot of the kid. "Guys, we can't interrupt him. He's grieving!"
"What?" Nat asked.
"I know you're incapable of all feelings and emotions, but I'm not. At least, right now I'm not. I can tell that this kid is broken. How could we attack him?"
"Like this." Clint said.
"No Cli-" He shot a tranquilizer arrow, but the kid caught it! He *bleep* *bleep* caught it!
He looked at the dart, seeing the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem.
"Great, a new enemy." What was that supposed to mean? "Now could you leave? I would really like to finish. Oh, and next time you interrupt my grieving, only one of you will be conscious enough to tell your leader. It'll be her, because I don't hit women. Unless she hits me, then it'll be patriot, cuz I like his manners. Goodbye."
Wow. I liked his spunk.
He sat a silver rose and a ring box down on the grave. He opened the box. Inside was a silver ring with a wave design. Simple, but beautiful. He took off a ring on his own hand, and laid it next to the first. This one had that thing that doves carry? A um... Olive branch! Yeah, one of those.
Steve pulled us away, but I heard him whisper, "I know you're waiting for me, and that you would never forgive me for coming before my time. I just fear that your Seaweed Brain is gone." Then, before I could react, Nat turned and shot at him, but he dodged it! Of course, it had to hit the statue.
He stood. Turned. Glared.
Man, his glare was scary!
"You have 5 seconds to run."
"Bruce, go! This isn't a code green!" Bruce ran. "Time's up!"
He pulled out a knife and charged at us.
Clint tried to shoot, but the kid caught or dodged all of them, throwing them back at us to keep the rest away. One grazed his thigh, but he didn't even flinch.
Who was this kid?
When he reached Clint, he hit him over the head, causing him to crumple in an unconscious heap.
Steve threw his shield, but Perseus jumped over it.
I flew into the air. From there, I watched as the kid fought Steve, and Nat snuck up. She grabbed something from his waist, a knife, as he took out Cap. I landed and listened.
"Give that back." he growled.
"Why should I?"
"It was hers. (I know she lost hers in Tartarus, just wait.)"
I needed to step in, before one of them got really hurt, so I took off the suit. "Now calm do-" I never finished. The last thing I saw was Nat cut him. The last thing I heard was him screaming. The last thing I felt was the static in the evening air.
