If Only (Adopted)

"Percy..." a voice called out to me from the darkness. The voice was familiar.

Why do I know it? Where from?

"Percy...!"

I knew I was still unconscious, barely recalling the events that lead up to me being in such a state. My head was spinning, even in the darkness. I was floating, body feeling light and weak.

"Percy, what's wrong? Your emotions are flooding through to me. Percy?"

I finally recognised the voice. It was that of somebody I hadn't heard from in a long time.

"Loki?" I thought, my voice projecting through the vast empty space.

"Indeed. It has been a while, has it not?" Loki's voice was soothing, something I needed to hear amidst all the recent chaos. The voice of an old friend.

"Mmm..." I hummed, already beginning to feel less tense. "But how am I talking to you? Am I going crazy?"

Loki laughed loudly, his voice reverberating around inside my head.

"No, Percy. Do you recall those runes I gave you a while back? Well this is that eventual telepathy I mentioned."

"Oh." I could find very little else to say. Since the last time I had seen Loki, everything had gone to hell. I couldn't help but feel slightly bitter that Loki hadn't been there for me at the time. "Why only now?"

"Your strong emotions must have activated it. What is going on over there?" I couldn't actually see Loki, but I could hear the Asgardian Prince's voice loud and clear.

Suddenly all thought of comfort disappeared.

"I'm being hunted." I mumbled unintelligibly. I explained the situation so quietly that Loki barely managed to hear, but he caught the gist of it.

"Where are you?" Loki demanded.

"I don't know. I'm positive Thor wouldn't have left me stranded dying in a graveyard... well, 98% sure."

"Thor? You're with Thor?" Loki sounded incredulous, as if this fact did little to reassure him.

"Yes. Although I'm not dead, so he can't be doing too bad if a job. Maybe he called somebody."

Loki sighed.

There was a moment of silence and then Loki began to speak again. "Hey, Perce-" he cut himself off with a harsh cry.

"Loki?" There was nothing. "Loki? Loki, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

I heard nothing but the occasional cry of pain and then eerie silence.

"Loki?"

There was a cornered sounding growl and then Loki's presence disappeared completely from my mind.

"Loki? Loki! What happened!?"

Wake up.

Need to wake up.

Loki needs help. I need to find him!
