PERCY'S POV
There was an obvious sigh of relief when I re-emerged with Fury. The Avengers made little attempt to hide the tension as it left their bodies. Will sat looking nonchalant. He knew I could handle myself, though it was obvious he was still concerned about my wellbeing.
"You're both okay... right?" Bruce asked, his voice taking on a suspicious tone.
I shrug. "As okay as I'll ever be."
Will snorted.
"Avengers, Percy has agreed to join the Avengers." Fury announced, moving everything along quickly. Thor, seemingly unaffected by the proclamation voiced his return to the Avengers as well.
"We always knew you'd come back." Tony grinned. "The room is still yours." Thor looked slightly put out that nobody seemed to take his leave seriously.
I clapped my hands. "Right, down to business!" My intention was to immediately start planning - I didn't want to be here any longer than I needed to be. Find Loki, get out. But I was interrupted by a dark-skinned hand on my shoulder.
I glared at Fury as he spoke up once again. "I want to know what your abilities are first."
"How do you know I have abilities?" I sassed.
"What makes you think I'm talking about magical abilities?" Fury scoffed.
I gave the director a deadpanned stare. "Oh, like your entire profession."
Fury relented. "Fair enough. But I doubt Loki would've befriended a 'mere mortal' as he would put it."
Tony took the moment to butt in with, "Actually, it's more like 'puny mortal' but who's being picky?" He received glares from his teammates and I opened my mouth to protest.
"Water." A loud voice spoke over the imminent chaos. "Perseus controls water."
I groaned and spun to face the Norse thunder god. "Really?" But still the god ignored me.
"He gained the ability of water through... a mutation in his genes. That makes him interesting to Loki. Perseus is a close friend of my brother and thus a friend of mine." Thor finished.
At the mention of a mutation in my genes, Fury's interest piqued. He turned on me. "Can you provide adequate evidence?"
I sighed and rolled my eyes, spying a glass of water on the table in front of Tony as I did so. With an over dramatic flick of my wrist the water in the cup burst forth, right into Tony's face. The man spluttered and leapt to his feet, furiously wiping at his face.
"Evidence enough for you?" I asked drying, waving his hand back the other way and Tony found himself completely dry once again, the water having returned to the cup. He sat down, trying to down play his dramatic reaction.
Fury raised an eyebrow. "Is that all you can do?"
"Obviously not." The Avengers had been watching their conversation, heads swinging back and forth as if watching a ping pong match. "But it's sufficient evidence, is it not?" I snarked.
"Would you allow us to run a DNA test? This could help unlock the secrets of your past, and help us understand the other out there just like you."
I vehemently shook my head in denial. "Hades no. I know the secrets of my past just fine, no DNA tests." Fury stepped forwards as he attempted to get his point across but I backed up and practically hissed at him. "Begone or I'll bring this entire building down!"
"You wouldn't." Fury stated.
"Or would I?" I tilted my head to the side, "It wouldn't be the first time." I said with an eerie grin. Technically the first time wasn't my fault, and the only thing I'd really brought down with my earth-bound abilities was a volcano... but nobody needed to know that. "Underestimating me is not a wise move." I added as an after thought. They could think I was crazy for all I care. To most, I was.
Fury ignored my threat, tension quickly building in the room as he continued to argue with me, who was gradually growing all the more agitated. "You need us to find Loki, it's one simple test. One simple test and-"
"I certainly do not need you." I growled, eyes flashing dangerously. The water rattled in Tony's cup and he tried to subtly scoot away should he end up sprayed in the face once more. "You are not the only people in the world! This is just quicker and easier for me to find Loki, or else I would be out of this building before you could blink. So watch it, or it's my back you'll be seeing in the future." I bit out, anger riding in my chest.
Fury could tell that I was seeing no reason on the DNA test and stood down after a silent standoff.
Tony clapped his hands and stood up once more. "In that case, welcome to the team kid! I can show you and this guy," he patted Will's shoulder, "-to a room and Thor, you know where yours is." He put on a smile at the end to break the tension.
I sighed and shook my head. "We'll just go back to the cabin. The others are still there and I'm not just leaving them there."
"You'll be staying in the tower." Fury stated.
I snorted. "What am I, Rapunzel?" I turned for the door, Will quickly standing, pushing in his chair and following after me.
Fury stepped forwards and grabbed my arm, intercepting me. "You will stay in this tower so we know where you are when and if we need you. No buts. Nobody will force you to stay here during the day, but at night, here you will sleep. I heard you were injured and I'm positive we have better equipment here than you do." I glanced at Will who only shrugged as if to say Fury was probably right.
I sighed and compared staying here to the DNA check. Something I could get murdered over or something that would probably annoy me out of his mind. But the nights I slept were anything but peaceful and nobody else needed to know what I went nightly. It only caused more problems, problems I didn't want to deal with.
"Fine. But I have terms and conditions." I thought I heard somebody in the background snort and say "Who reads the terms and conditions?"
Fury spread his arms to signify that he was listening.
"The others get to stay here too, for tonight at least. Magnus, Will, Alex and Sam." I counted off on his fingers. "And I want to get my stuff." I added as an afterthought.
"Deal."
And soon Magnus, Alex, Sam and Will had their own rooms down the hall from me. Of course, there were arguments on where whoever would stay, but those were quickly settled by a grumpy me who was absolutely over the day.
That night as I lay in bed I wondered, just what kind of mess have I gotten myself into this time?

Sorry, I was supposed to update yesterday, but the perks of missing two weeks of school is having to catch up and learning that you have 3 tests the week you get back. But hey, it is a day late, but it's here!
Peace,
