Among The Fallen: Phan

I watch his expression change to one of understanding what I said. I waited for a negative reaction but he just nodded instead.

Dan: What happened?

Phil: It was just remarks at the things I would do wrong at first but then he got violent and hit me and he pushed me down the stairs. I was at a low point though so I just let him and I didn't put up much of a fight. I couldn't stand it anymore when I caught him cheating. I kicked him out before he even tried to explain, because if he had, I would've let it go.

Dan: You really have had a crazy past.

Phil: Hm. Thank you for not reacting badly.

Dan: I'm not in the place to judge people for their sexuality. I'm bisexual.

There's a knock on the door. John walks in with a young girl. I assume this is Christine. She has Dan's hair and eye colour. She spots Dan and runs over with a huge smile on her face. She jumps into his lap, both of them smiling. I was smiling too, it was contagious.

Christine: Daddy look! I drew a picture!

She runs back to the bag she dropped by the door and pulls out a crumpled piece of paper. She runs back to Dan and throws it towards him excitedly. I can see the picture from where I'm sat. There's a man and a girl. I assume it's the both of them. Christine notices me and looks at Dan confused.

Christine: Daddy who is that?

Dan: This is Phil. He is a friend.

Christine climbs out of Dan's lap and sits next to me, poking my face. I laugh at her doing the same back. She giggles at me with a smile.

Christine: Phil looks like an angel. I like his eyes. Bluuuuuue.

Dan's smile drops at the mention of an angel. Probably remembering how we met. He shakes his head and smiles back at Christine.

Dan: Yes, they're very pretty aren't they?

I smile at them with a slight blush. It was so weird having someone who wasn't Alex being nice to me. Dan checks the time and tells me that food won't be long. 10 minutes or so.

Dan: Christine will be with Mary. Our nanny-cook.
