Among The Fallen: Phan

This was so not okay, but Dan seemed happy. I didn't expect him to react in this way, I thought he'd be angry at me.

Phil: Why aren't you mad at me?

Dan: Do you want me to be?

Phil: No, it's just that I was the one who left.

Dan: We accept the love we think we deserve. And you deserve so much more than you think you do. I can't be mad that you freaked out about it, because of your past experiences. I can't judge your past when I don't know the half of it.

We both went silent. I didn't know what to say. I felt like his words were always so beautifully strung up into sentences that I just wanted to listen to him all day. No wonder he wrote his words down and became an author. He sighed and I looked back at him. There were a few tears falling down his cheeks as he spoke again.

Dan: Truth is Phil, I really like you. And it's weird, and scary and it's like entering uncharted territory but I don't really care. The second I'd met you, I knew there was something different...no something special about you. I know it hasn't been that long, but it feels like I've known you all my life. I might even go so far as to say I love you.

Phil: I love you too. Forever and always.

I kiss him and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. My hand rested below his ear, my thumb caressing his cheek as the tears were falling. He ran his hands down my spine, pulling me closer until there was no space left between us and I could feel the beating of his heart against my chest.
