After Markus stopped crying, we were just sitting together and talking about whatever came our way. Just by talking together with him gave me and him so much strength. It was my first time to talk about the horrific night. Thanks to him who was there with me, it was so easy to talk about it. I can't believe we even cracked some jokes with that horrible topic. Markus is the only one who I can open to like that.
After a short pause of silence, Markus spoke up: ,, There's one more thing I have to tell you. "
I looked his way as he peered into my eyes.
,, What is it? " I asked curiously.
He seemed to be struggling whether to say it or not. I chuckled and smacked his shoulder playfully: ,, Don't back up now. "
He smiled gently: ,, Don't tell this to your dad at all costs. "
I nodded in agreement, not knowing where it was going.
,, When you were in coma for a few days, I went to find a JERICHO. It's an abandoned ship where deviants androids are hiding to not be found by humans. They are hiding there in fear and a lot of them are about to shut down if we won't get them biocomponents. " he looked at my face to read my expression.
I'm not gonna lie, I was shocked but amazed at the same time. I blinked my eyes a few times at his unbelievable story.
,, O-Okay.. And how did you get to know about that.... JERICHO? " I was taken aback.
,, That night, when we were leaving the junkyard, an android stopped me and gave me the location. " he explained.
,, A-Alright... So, what do you need to do? "
,, I need to get into Cyberlife's store where biocomponents are. " he said, looking at me seriously.
I couldn't process anything. Was this really happening? But the next thing I knew, a flashback of Carl telling me to give him the push and let him follow is heart is what flew through my mind at that instant.
,, Markus, I'm not gonna lie. What you said totally surprised me, but if it's something you really want to do, then there's no need for me to stop you. As long as you believe it's a right thing to do, go on. I'm gonna support you. "
He looked surprised and at loss for words, it was probably the last thing he expected to hear from me.
I gently stroked his cheek: ,, Don't worry, Markus. You know you can count on me at all times. "
He grabbed my hand: ,, I know. Thank you so much, Aly. "
Out of instict, I hugged him tightly.
,, When are you going to take action then? " I asked while being wrapped up in his embrace.
,, Tonight. " he said.
I separated from him: ,, So soon?! "
,, They need it as soon as possible. "
I sighed: ,, I'll cover for you then. Knock on my window and I'll let you in when you come back. "
He smiled and sighed a breath of relief.
We stayed there for a little longer afterwards, talking a bit more about our lives. He told me that he was starting to feel emotions even though I knew that longer than him. Thanks to talking to him, I felt like a big stone fell from my shoulders and I felt much lighter.
On the way back, we held hands until we arrived home. It felt like this night has made a big step for both of us. Not that we were dating or anything, we just became so close to the point that I think we can't get even closer anymore. By holding my hand it felt like he's holding my heart and I know he will protect it. I'll do the same for him. He's my everything now.
When I unlocked the door to the house and opened it, a glass fell in front of my feet which made me flinch from the unexpected event. Even Markus looked shocked as he pulled me closer to him.
We both looked the way it came flying from. My dad was standing there, looking at us angrily with a bottle of vodka in his hand.
,, Dad, we just went for a walk if that's why you're mad. " I said with my shaky voice.
He only looked at me and then turned to leave to his bedroom. Me and Markus looked at each other surprisingly.
,, I'll check up on him, then we'll go "sleep". " I air-quoted and grinned.
He smiled, but looked worried, probably for having to leave me behind.
,, It's fine, Markus. He's my dad, he will never hurt me. " I reassured him while stroking his cheek.
I turned to leave towards dad's bedroom to check up on him. Markus cleaned the mess meanwhile.
Once I entered the bedroom, it reeked of alcohol so much it made me want to puke.
,, Ugh, dad. It freaking stinks here! " I went to open the window immediately.
,, You love me anyway. " he said in a high-pitched voice which made me laugh.
,, You're right. And even though you're always so grumpy towards me, you love me too. " I giggled.
,, Of course. " he said as he closed his eyes.
I went towards him to turn him on side, so he won't choke on himself. I covered him with blanket and kissed him on his cheek.
,, Goodnight, dad. " I said and quietly closed the door behind me.
Once I've looked before me, I saw Markus standing outside the door, probably making sure I was alright.
I smiled gently at him as we went to my bedroom. His usual position was either laying with me in bed, or standing beside the door while resting his system, but since he had to go to save his people, we had to plan this through.
,, Alright, Markus, you have to be back before 6 am, that's the time when my dad goes to walk out Sumo and he always checks up on me. Knock on my window gently, alright? " I whispered quietly for him.
He nodded. I opened the window for him and he slowly crawled outside. Once he was having his feet on the ground, he looked at me. I leaned towards the window.
,, Be careful, Markus. If I see one scratch on you, I'll take care of the person who did it to you. " I said fiercefully.
,, I will be, Aly. Take care. " he squeezed my hand then let go and quietly left.
