Stiles
There was a new kid at Beacon Hills that Stiles had taken a sudden interest in. There was something about him that forced Stiles to keep his eyes on him, stuck there, watching him as he moved gracefully around the lunch room to find a table. Stiles would have invited him over, but he wasn't sure that was a great idea. Instead, he just admired him from where he sat in the back of the room.
Scott slammed his tray down next to Stiles, slowly pulling him out of the daze this new kid had put him in. "What are you doing, creep?" he asked with a small snicker. Stiles rolled his eyes and ignored him, taking a bite of his sandwich instead. "Stiles, everyone can see you staring at the new kid. He's not that cute, by the way."
Stiles shrugged. "We can agree to disagree. There's something about him."
Scott hesitated, but Stiles knew he was going to bring it up anyways. "Have you heard from Derek?" he asked, hesitant.
"You mean after I called him ten times, called Erica three times, and went to his house around winter break when he should have been there and I got no answer from anyone? No, I haven't heard from him. It has been three fucking months, Scott. If he cared, he'd call me back at least once. Even a text would suffice at this point, because I'm afraid he might be dead." Stiles didn't like talking about it, or thinking about it for that matter. He wanted the break, yes, but he didn't plan for this to go on for months. Maybe one or two, but three? Stiles missed Derek, a lot actually. He was starting to get over the whole cheating thing, enough to call Derek and tell him he was forgiven. That would have been much easier if Derek would pick up the phone.
"Maybe something happened?" Scott tried, but he wasn't helping Stiles feel better. He was making it worse to be frank, and Stiles wasn't in the mood to talk about Derek anymore.
"Can we forget about it, please? Derek has moved on, so that means I have to move on." Stiles wanted to let the wounds heal, but everytime they started to, someone would mention Derek and rip them open again. "What's the new kid's name?" Stiles asked, changing the subject before Scott could argue.
Scott sighed in defeat, but left it at that. "Theo Raeken. He used to go to Beacon Hills in elementary school, but he moved away at the start of fourth grade. We played on the same basketball team."
"Oh yeah, I think I remember him," Stiles recalled, picking at his sandwich as he watched Theo laugh at something the kid next to him said. "Do you think he'd wanna be friends?"
Scott raised an eyebrow, looking at Theo, then back at Stiles. "You just want to be friends?" he questioned.
Stiles shrugged, looking away from Theo. "I don't want to jump right into the dating world, Scott. The guy I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with ghosted me. I'm not over it." He was a little harsher than he meant to be these past three months, but Scott seemed to understand why. He didn't get scared away so easily.
"Okay, makes sense," Scott agreed. "If you just want to be his friend, you should talk to him. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to hang out with you, dude."
