I'm running.
I can feel my feet hitting the ground, each step one forward, each step faster, faster than the previous.
I'm unaware of where I'm headed, helpless against the pounding begins in my ears that becomes louder and louder with each thump of my feet on the floor.
I look down. White shoes with laces glide across an equally so linoleum floor. The walls and ceiling blend together. Everything's white. The floor is white; the corridor walls are white; the ceiling is white. I am surrounded.
The long corridor finally opens up into a wider one: one with doors. Lots of them. So many doors.
I come to a stop in front of one of them, prying it open to another hallway with two adjacent doors. My hand presses against the one on the left.
I pause for a second, my bare hand resting against the cool metal of the door. Finally, I reach into my pocket and pull out a card. I scan it as fast as I can next to the door, and it hisses open. I throw myself inside and shut it behind me as fast as I can.
I lean with my back against the door, sinking to my bum on the floor, my breaths coming in ragged pants. After calming myself, I look up and smile.
A boy sits on the bed, his hands resting on his knees. The corners of his mouth turn up and he leans forwards as he sees me sitting, staring at him. I speak first.
"Hey, big brother."
He laughs.

My eyes shoot open.
Instantly, I reach up, grabbing for something to help me sit up and keep running. I have to reach the map room. Julian's there, and he has what I want.
When I finally register my surroundings, I blink a couple times before realizing where I am.
I'm not lying on the hard ground of the forest floor; there's no press of wet dirt against my cheek. Instead, I feel the scratch of a sheet against my back
I'm lying in a hammock within the homestead.
I instantly try to sit up, but someone puts their hand on my shoulder, gently easing me back down. I look up to familiar brown eyes peering down at me.
"About time you bloody woke up." Newt says.
"How-" I start, "how did I get here?" I ask, rubbing my head where a small bump is forming.
"I followed you." He says, "you seemed on edge, so when I saw you leaving for the homestead, I just wanted to-" he runs a hand through his hair, "help."
"Newt," I begin, but am cut off as his volume increases suddenly.
"And then you took off into the woods, so I followed you, but you fell," his brown eyes are glossed over with concern and something else strange and foreboding, "hit your head really hard, and you wouldn't wake up, so I brought you here." I almost laugh, regarding his thin arms.
"You carried me?" He nods, his face completely serious.
I suppress a laugh turning away, but when I look back up, his eyes are serious.
"What were you doing, y/n?" He finally asks, breaking the silence between us. Now is my chance. I can tell him now. He'll understand.
