Plucking up my courage I made my way to the gates of the sector entrance where I was supposed to meet Kenji for our walk. He had talked me into going, I didn't really want to go that much, but we didn't get much of a chance to talk to each other at the moment with everything being so hectic and busy. I am always with Aaron, at meetings and visiting civilians and Kenji is busy with taking care of everybody at the sector and working on his new project at omega point. So I couldn't turn the suggestion down, even though I was exhausted and felt like a deflated balloon.
The sector building was so big, most of the time I didn't know where I was going but thankfully everyone always pointed me in the right direction, although I did know how to get to the gates from my room which was a good start. I reached the gates which were starting to flake from use, the whole building was starting to look a bit worse for wear on the outside to be honest, but we have better things to spend our time and money on than making it look pretty.
At first I couldn't see Kenji, and I started to panic, but then I looked up and found him perched on one of the glass squares. He was crouched and seemed to be looking at something; he was so distracted he didn't even see me walk up to the square.
I laughed quietly to myself and then tapped his shoulder but dodged the other way. He whipped his head round and a panicked looked flashed across his face when he saw no one there.
'BOO' I shouted.
'ARGHHH' I had never seen someone jump up so fast, he nearly feel off the block!
I was in pleats of laughter; I couldn't even stand up so I sunk to the floor with tears rolling down my face.
'Shut up! Juliette seriously, I hate you!', but I saw the smile creep over his face after the announcement. This made me laugh even more. He was so fun to wind up, oh god.
'No you loveee me really,' I said in a whiny voice, I had finally calmed down and retained my fits of laughter from bursting through me like a broken dam.
'No, I don't'
'Yes you do, anyway what were you doing up there? You were looking at something.' It seemed the joke had ended and he looked at me with an embarrassed look, which made me want to know even more.
'Nothing' he proclaimed. He was obviously lying.
'It isn't nothing, come on tell me! I'm your best friend'
'FINE, its err a comic book' then he took it out of where it was hiding and shoved it in front of my face.
'A comic book! That's what you're embarrassed about? I could tell he was happy I wasn't making fun of him 'Where did you find this?'
'It turns out some of the books, comics, newspapers and stuff like that weren't burnt, people kept them hidden buried in the ground and I found this one and the rest of the collection in a box when I was digging at omega point' He looked really pleased with himself now.
'Do you think we could find some more, you know of the boxes in the ground? I was getting really excited now, wouldn't it be awesome to find some of those places, Aaron would love them, plus his birthday is coming up and that would be an amazing present. I could feel the excitement thrumming and my heart raced.
'Yeah, I'm sure we could! Let's go look now around the sector' He started to walk towards the gate and we nodded at the guards which were stood watch as we walked out.
I was so caught up in the moment and the excitement I had forgot to ask Kenji about the mysterious figure in the hall, but I was genuinely so happy right now, so I came to the conclusion that that conversation could wait for another day.
