elemental ? n. m.

I walk back into the campsite, but can't help the gasp I let slip past my lips as I see the bodies of all the dead wolves littering the soil. Ray is shaking as he sits on the floor and his eyes are still bleeding.

"You said it was gonna feel better. Why doesn't it feel better?" He cries.

Stefan scoffs, "Some master race."

I can sense the tension between him and Nik.

"Lose the attitude, both of you." I plant my feet on the ground firmly. I did not need to deal with a fight right now.

Niklaus turns around, probably about to tell me to mind my own business or some other thing, but his eyebrows raise, taking in my form.

"Did you fancy a swim of sorts?"

I wring out my hair, finding some water droplets still there. "I fell, sue me!" I raise my hands dramatically, "I tend to be a pretty clumsy person."

Niklaus chuckles, "Maybe your age is catching up to you."

I scoff, "Hypocrite!"

Before he can say anything else, the second werewolf he attempted to turn awoke, gasping for air.

Niklaus turns to the injured human leaning against a tree on the ground, "Derek, come feed your girlfriend."

Ray snarls as Niklaus gets up to grab the human and makes a few jumps, prancing around before leaving.

"Go get him." Nik snarls, and Stefan jumps on Ray and pushes him on the ground, wherein they roll around until they are out of sight.

I turn to Niklaus as I yell in worry, "How can you let him go alone?! He could kill him!"

I start running the way they went, ignoring the cold sinking in my bones as the harsh wind nips at me and my still wet clothes cling to me.

I gasp as I see a dazed Stefan, blood oozing from a wound on his forearm. This alerts Stefan of my presence, and by the twigs crunching behind me, Niklaus' too. He starts walking towards us, a panicked look on his face before it turns unemotional.

His girlfriend and his brother must still be in the vicinity.

I feel Niklaus' body heat from behind me, "Where did he go?"

Stefan looks at the ground, "He, uh...he got away. Forget him. Let's go."

Nik sees his arm injury, and comes forward to grab it, holding it near his face, "A fatal werewolf bite. Ouch."

I rush forward to Stefan's side, placing an arm on his shoulder.

"Yeah. I'm gonna need your blood to heal me."

I look expectantly at Niklaus, knowing he viewed Stefan as somewhat of a companion.

Niklaus looks sheepish as he says, "Well, I tell you what. You find Ray, and then I'll heal you."

"You can't be serious." I say, crossing my arms.

Niklaus ignores me, "You better hurry, 'cause that bite looks nasty."

He then proceeds to grab onto my elbow, dragging me back to the campsite, where the others are waking up. All of their eyes are bleeding, which makes this all the more worrisome.

The sun starts to set when Niklaus calls me over.

"What do you want now?" I snap, harsher than I intended.

He points towards the campfire he started, "I need you to sit on this log," he points in front of the fire, "and warm up, before you put this back on."
