The next day, I woke up, tears stained on my cheeks. And my throat was raw from terrors. I went into the kitchen. "I heard screaming, are you okay?" Brian asked.
"Just terrors. It should be better by tonight," I said. Brian looked at me and took everything in. My puffy eyes, my tears staining my face.
"Mere...she- she told me everything. She didn't know how to help and she hoped I could share some insight. Especially on the whole thing with Robert. I remember the story you told me about his girlfriend the first day of rehearsals. This could be a good thing. There's a quote about when life is dragging you backwards, it's going to launch you into something great, like an arrow. L, I don't know what the universe has planned for you, but it's going to be the greatest thing. You've endured too much BS these past three weeks. You deserve something good to happen. Also, this would be a lot more passionate with different word choice options, but Mere doesn't let us curse or anything in front of Emma," Brian said, hugging me.
"Thanks," I said. The door opened and closed and I saw Robert behind Brian's shoulder.
"Remember what I said. It doesn't matter now. I just hope the universe gives you something good because of the amount of BS you've endured," Brian muttered.
"Hey!" I croaked to Robert.
"Music or too long?" He asked.
"Both," I said, getting some coffee.
"How was the night?" Brian asked Robert as I took the mug to my room. I got my work out and checked my email.

Subject: An apology of sorts
I'm sending you this email because I thought I would write you something. It's a phrase or story type I was thinking about that describes our relationship. You've been through a lot of bullshit and I know I haven't been the best. While you visited me, I tried to get you out of grieving, which was a bad idea. You needed that time. I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry if that phrasing was weird. This is what I'm trying to say:
Pain is never-ending. Emotional, mental, or physical. It'll be with you forever. It can lessen, but it'll always be there. Forever.
I could have put this in a text, but please reply in some way, shape, or form. I love you.
I went into messages and composed a new message.
I got your email and you don't have to apologize. Honestly, I needed that time outside, talking about the most random things. It was really therapeutic, so thanks :)
<3 I love you <3
I sent the text and finished checking all of my notifications. My mug was empty, so I went into the empty kitchen to wash it. I decided to get ready for the day and just walk around Chicago, giving myself time to clear my head and relax. I took a book and my laptop in case I wanted to get work done. After a quick text to my housemates, I left, a key securely in my bag.
Around noon, I got a phone call. I picked up. "Hello!"
"I just wanted to check in on how you're doing," Jaime said.
"Definitely a bit better. I'm just walking. How are you?" I asked.
"Same old, same old. You told everyone you're living with where you are, right?"
"Yeah, I texted them."
"Okay. Brian called me, screaming that he didn't know where you were. I'll call him back."
"Thanks, Jaims," I said, hanging up and making sure the text did send.
That night, I ate my only full meal of the day. "I flipped the f out, L. Why didn't you physically talk?" Brian asked.
"My throat," I said.
"I know, but spam next time. I thought it was a text from Darren or Walker or someone else since it was only one," he said.
"I'll do my best to alert you next time. Cross my heart," I said solemnly.
"Thank you!" Robert exclaimed. He looked at me. "My ears exploded."
I smiled in agreement and I had an early night. Brian and Meredith were having an AVPM Rewatch and Darren was coming into town! It was my job to pick him up from the airport.
The next morning, I woke up to a text from Darren. "Flight cancelled...working on finding one." I was in shock and immediately called him. "What happened? Why was it cancelled?" I asked.
"The pilot's seatbelt broke. So I'm working on finding another flight. There's one that arrives in eight hours... it's the only one," Darren sighed.
"Take that one. It'll be okay," I said.
"Are you sure, Elle? Will it be okay with Brian and Mere?"
"I can convince them," I assured him, "Send me the details."
"Sure thing," he said, hanging up. I went into the kitchen and made myself coffee before talking.
"Doing better, L?" Meredith asked. I nodded.
"DareBear's flight was canceled. The only one he can get comes in at six," I said.
"That's okay. How'd you sleep?" Meredith asked.
"It was awesome. I was a rock. Where's Robert?" I asked.
"He probably lives with Alex now," Brian said, rolling his eyes. A bit of hurt stabbed my heart. Meredith saw the brief flicker of pain in my eyes.
"If he breaks his promise, I'm going to remind him of it whether you want me to or not," Meredith said. I smiled.
We spent the rest of the day getting snacks for the livestream and making sure everything worked. I left fifteen minutes in to get Darren. "You have your license?" Meredith asked me. I nodded. "Phone? Directions?"
"I'm sure, Mere. I'll be back in a bit. Let me know if you want me to get pizza or something," I said, hugging her and heading out. Joe opened the door.
"Stay safe," he said. I smiled. They knew I could drive, but they were scared to let me go.
I arrived at the airport and found Darren. He hugged me. "Hey, Elle. Let's get to that rewatch," he said, expertly weaving until we got back into the car. I started driving. "You've had practice."
"I haven't," I admitted.
"Well, you are very talented and gifted," he said.
"So I'll drop you off at the guys' house and then I'm going to get pizza and go back home. Once the rewatch is over, I'll go get you again and we'll go home," I said.
"Do you know if the guys have any food?" Darren asked.
"No, but there's a protein shake in the glove compartment and a water bottle in the cupholder," I said, passing Secret's Hollow, then Adler.
"Thanks so much, Elle. I ate breakfast and lunch, thinking there would be food on the plane, but there wasn't. So I'm hungry but you made it better," he said, kissing the top of my head.
"I'm totally awesome," I said.
"Yes, you are. So, I'll see you around the end?" He asked. I nodded.
"Call me if you want to go earlier, because I can pick you up," I said, parking and texting Brian. We went to the guys' apartment and I knocked on the door. Joey answered. "Where's your girlfriend?"
"Babysitting. I won't kill your brother," Joey said. I nodded and left Darren. I was about fifteen minutes from home when Robert called me.

Hi! Fun fact: The reason Darren's flight was cancelled happened to my mom once! Have a nice week!
