"I'm wondering if you want to come with me," Clark said. I was taken aback.
"I-I would love to. But are you sure? Darren would flip and Robert would murder you without a second thought," I said, "I couldn't imagine what I would do with that guilt."
"I already talked to them about it. I was about to ask Robert, but the minute he picked up, he asked me when I was going to ask you, so he gave me his blessing. Darren said he was cool. Brian and Mere also know," Clark said. I smiled and wrapped my fingers with his.
"In that case, I'd love to go with you," I said. He leaned forward and kissed me softly.
"I'm looking forward to it," he said as I kissed him again. My phone buzzed.
"I have to go back to rehearsal," I said, getting Emma balanced on my hip.
"I'll go with. Not like I have anything else," he smiled. We entered the stage together.
"We're just going to wait for everyone else to come," Brian said. Meredith took Emma from my arms.
"Can you come with me? I want to talk to you," she said. I nodded and followed her into the bathroom.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked, sitting on a dry spot on the counter.
"What did you tell Clark about joining him in New York?" She asked.
"I said I'd love to," I said.
"Good. I want you to have at least one constant," she said.
"But I am going to miss you," I said.
"That's what FaceTime™ is for," she smiled, "Don't think you're going to get away from us as easily as your brothers. You have to call us at least once a day, alright?"
"I will. Don't worry, MereBear," I said.
"I won't. Don't tell Brian, but he'll worry more than me. Make sure you tell him about your safety. Add him to your nightly calls," she said.
"I figured," I smiled.
"But are you excited?" Meredith asked, passing me Emma.
"Yeah. I'm still working on convincing myself that this actually happened," I said.
"You don't believe it?" She asked.
"I mean, it's weird. The only time this has happened was when I was young and I was adopted," I confessed.
~Flashback~
I was looking out the window, imagining a different world. Where I had a family that had a last name that I shared. I could be loved. It's not like I had made friends here. I had tried. "Luna?" A voice said from the doorway. I looked over and I saw Miss Olivia at the doorway. "Come downstairs with me. We need to talk."
I was scared. I tried to make friends. It wasn't my fault no one liked my American accent. It became more Australian as I heard it more, but I was still known as the American. We walked past the rooms I was familiar with and we went to the forbidden hallway. It wasn't actually called that. Someone would go in for a talk and they would be gone later that day. Sometimes they said goodbye. However, they would generally walk past us with a skip in their step, forgetting our existence. We sat down in a room at long last.
"What are we going to talk about?" I asked.
"You're not in trouble. It's just that a family is here for you. They want to adopt you. Do you know what that means?" Miss Olivia asked. I shook my head. "Well, you are in this orphanage because you don't have parents. But the family that is here today wants you to be their child. By being adopted, you're going to have a family and parents. You're going to live with them."
