We all went to Starkid Manor to celebrate the end and party, essentially.
"Haven't seen you all night," Clark said, sneaking up to me with a hug.
"I saw you onstage," I said.
"I know. You must've been busy. Are you hungry?" He asked me.
"No, I ate during the shows," I said.
"So is this a bad time to tell you there's gluten-free pizza?" He asked. My eyes widened at the thought.
"Forget about me not being hungry, I'm now a little bit hungry," I said.
"Stay here. I'll get you some," he said as I stood up. I sat back down reluctantly and waited. Luckily, it was a short wait.
"Thanks," I said, devouring it in seconds.
"Shit, how'd you do that so fast?" He asked me as I shrugged. By now, everyone knew about my future and how I was leaving. We treasured these short moments together before I would get pulled off to people saying their goodbyes, even though we had a month to make plans.
It was at least three hours before everyone finished saying goodbye to me. After that, I had to leave. I didn't want to cry. Despite the fact that everyone was drunk, I could hear the sincerity of their goodbyes. I locked myself in the bathroom, being one of the quietest spots. In a panic, I dialed Brian's number.
"What's up, L?" He asked me.
"Everyone said goodbye and it's making emotional. I hate asking this, but can either you or Mere come to pick me up?" I asked.
"Yeah. Give me fifteen minutes. I'll be there," he said.
"Thanks, Brian," I said.
"No problem, L. I'll call you," he said, hanging up. I left the room and looked for Clark. I finally found him with a bottle of water, watching from the sidelines, his eyes scanning the small crowd.
"Hey," I said, gathering his attention.
"Where were you?" He asked.
"I called Brian. He's coming in ten to pick me up," I said, "I can't really deal with goodbyes."
He hugged me close and I inhaled his familiar scent. "It's going to be fine. We'll probably be back," he said, kissing the top of my head. We stayed like that until my phone rang. Brian.
"See you," I compromised, not bothering to answer Brian's call.
"Tomorrow," Clark confirmed as we kissed briefly and I left the party, finding Brian in the car outside.
"How was it?" He asked.
"Good. Emotional. The usual," I said, buckling my seatbelt.
"Glad to know I didn't miss too much," he said, heading on the way home.
"How's Emma?" I asked.
"Sleeping through most of the night," he said, "Finally."
The next day I was texting Clark. We were trying to figure out the moving schedule, which was a lot more complicated than I had anticipated originally.
A few months later, it was my last day in Chicago for real this time. I had said most of my goodbyes earlier, but I was waiting to do the last three. Brian, Meredith, and Robert.
"Goodbye, L," Brian said, hugging me tightly and giving me a kiss on the top of my head, "Send a text weekly at the very least. Even just a check-in. A call once every month."
"Will do," I said, kissing his cheek and giving him a tight hug.
"'Bye, L," Meredith said, hugging me with one arm, the other containing Emma until Brian took her. Meredith took that chance to squeeze me tighter. "Call every other day along with daily text check-ins and a monthly video call."
"I'll do my best, Mere," I said. I gave Emma a small hug. "I hope you remember me."
After a final reluctant hug, I went outside and found the car running, Robert driving and Clark in the back. "Can we wait?" I asked Robert and he nodded, taking my hand. I got a text from Clark. Left you guys together. <3
I smiled and kept a tight hold on Robert's hand. Without a doubt, this would be the hardest goodbye. We arrived at the airport and unloaded my bags.
"This is it, then," I said, tears pricking at the back of my eyes.
"This won't ever be the final goodbye. I don't want to see you go," Robert began.
"But it's not fore-ever," I choked out.
"Not forever. Even if it was, you know that I would never let it get me down."
"Because you're the part of me that makes me better, wherever I go."
"I will try not to cry, but no one needs to say goodbye," we said, tears going down each of our cheeks. I hugged him close as he rested his head on the top of mine.
"Call me when you get there and tell me everything," he said. I nodded tearfully.
"Will do. I love you," I said.
"I love you, too, Lu. I'll do anything for you," he said. We departed with a kiss on the cheek and a tight hug. I immediately got a call the second he walked away. Robert.
"Hi," I said, tears picking at the back of my eyes.
"I just wanted to say that I miss you already," he said. I heard his voice break.
"Stop crying. You're making me sad again just as my emotions are at bay," I said, my voice breaking in return.
"Lu, I can't help it. I love you," he said.
"I love you, too, but I have a flight to catch. I'll call you when I get there," I said
Clark had two of my bags, but he held his hand out. I gripped my carry-on and took his open hand. "Ready?" He asked me.
"Ready." I confirmed.

Disclaimer: I only own Luna and the plot line. Everyone portrayed here is a fictional version of themselves.
Well, it's certainly been an adventure. After two books, it's time to let these fictional versions of real people alone and the fictional version of myself. It's no secret that Luna is based off of myself, which is why this entire story is told in her point of view. I will be back to publishing a new book. I have some one-shots in the works in addition to a full-length fic with ~2,000 word chapters. This journey has been amazing.
At the time of publishing, I'd like to thank the
63.5% of readers from the United States and the
37.5% of readers from the UK.
I have 137 reads at the time of publishing, 3 votes, and 3 comments. Thanks for taking the time to read this and especially to comment. Whenever I see a comment or vote, it makes my entire day/week.
Take it easy guys, it has been...totally awesome.
