Not like any other Nerd ~ Tadashi x Reader

Without realizing it, you've been in your office for an hour and hurriedly left it. Setting up took a lot of your time, more than it should have. 

You were about to be late for your first class. 

You couldn't help but smile as you ran around the campus, slowing down only when you were standing in front of the door. Luckily for you, the doors for the classrooms were at the back of the classroom so you slipped in unnoticed. 

Another thing, the classes were huge, this one has 250 students in it. 

You found a spot near the back and settled in for the rest of the lecture. Your next class was close by, and at 12:30 you had an hour break before entering your next lecture. Most of the classes today were just introductions and looking at the syllabus. 

You breathed a sigh of relief once the Prof let the class out, it was finally lunchtime. You didn't waste any time and hurried to the 'cafeteria' or food court as it was basically. 

You knew that it wouldn't take long for students to fill the place up, but you hoped that your late class would hopefully clear up some places. 

You went into the line for sandwiches. The duo from early appeared in your eyesight, except there was also the blonde from earlier who smiled at you in the lab. They were not far from you at all, trying to decide on what to eat.

"You know, I will probably make other friends too, not only your friends Tadashi," in return Tadashi shrugged looking at his younger brother. 

"Yeah, you'll probably be spending a lot of your time in the 'nerd lab' so good luck with that," at this the blonde laughed, shaking her head at the two of them. For some reason, these people kept popping up everywhere. And you avoided eye contact but watched as they walked in the same line as you, only 1 person away from you. 

You shook your thoughts and focused on the line. Two more people, and you'd be able to start ordering. 

"There are other people in our lab!" Their discussion furthered. 

"Yeah, I saw a girl who was also at the exhibition. Callaghan accepted her on spot as well, she seemed very intelligent," you looked forward, hearing her compliment you was surreal. It felt weird to listen to the conversation, continually. It wasn't on purpose.

"Oh yeah, the one with the (your hair colour) hair right?" The girl replied quickly.

"Yeah that's the one, she was setting up her room this morning so I didn't get to introduce myself to her!" An extrovert. If only.

"Hi, what can I get for ya?" The person behind the counter seemed much too happy, but you smiled. That wasn't a bad thing. 

"Um, can I get a (favourite sandwich) with a medium drink and some chips?" She nodded at you, before preparing everything. It didn't take long, she got you your things and you paid quickly, hoping to duck out of everyone's view and head to your lab for the hour, or 45 minutes you had left. 

"Oh hey!" Just as you were about to leave, the blonde from earlier appeared in your vision, she was talking to you. The older brother was right behind her, and the younger one was ordering. 

"Hi?" You heard the question in your voice and could have winced. Was that too rude?

"Oh sorry, my name is Honey Lemon and this is Tadashi, we are in the same lab, over there that's Hiro, Tadashi's younger brother, he also is in our lab!" She was very sure of herself. You couldn't help but smile, she seemed like a very warm person and it rubbed off.

"My name is (y/n), nice to meet you guys," you shook her hand first and she smiled warmly. Honey Lemon, huh. 

"Nice to meet you as well, you are welcome to join us for lunch if you didn't have any plans," As you shook Tadashi's hands, he spoke warmly. A different kind of warmth. His words felt so sincere. 

"Oh, um, I was just going to go to the lab so I'd gladly join you if that's alright!" You felt a surge of confidence flow through you. You were an introvert to an extent. You did enjoy other people's kindness. 

"Oh yeah no problem, come on let's go find a seat," You nodded at Tadashi. 

"Ok, I'll get us something to eat Tadashi! Be right back," she seemed close to him, were they together?

I mean it would make sense. 

"Tadashi, I think there's a spot over there," Hiro spoke this and he smiled at you quickly before leading you and Tadashi to the table.

"Thanks, Hiro," he nodded, and we walked to the table that was open. You couldn't help but notice the fact that Honey Lemon seemed to constantly look over at you guys like she was worried something might happen then ad there. 

You shook your head. 

"So, how have your first few classes gone so far (y/n)?" You smiled at Tadashi's question. 

"Well, I was a bit late to my first one but that was ok, I just lost track of time setting up!" Tadashi and Hiro laughed at this. 

"I was telling Hiro that in my first year, I missed my first class completely because I was too busy setting everything up, I was so excited about having my own little place to work," Hiro rolled his eyes. 

"Yeah, that's why I call it a 'nerd lab'," Hiro said before suddenly reaching his hand out to you. "I didn't introduce myself, my name is Hiro!" He seemed really cheerful. 

"No worries, my name is (y/n), nice to meet you," you smiled back at him, happy to be eating lunch with people instead of in the room.
