Barry sucked in a deep breath as he placed his hand on the doorknob, releasing it through the tight space between his lips. He didn't know what to expect upon opening this door, but he refused to think the worst. He didn't want to think that because of his actions, one of his friends wouldn't be here. He didn't want to think that he wiped the existence of someone he cared about. Yet, he coulnny find it in himself to open the door.
When he finally twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open, he was happy to see Joe and Wally in the living room, talking in whispers. When the door closed, they turned towards Barry and Barry couldn't help but smile widely.
Wally furrowed his eyebrows. "That's an odd expression for someone whose father just died," he declared. "Are you okay, Barry?"
"I'm fine," he assured, looking at Joe. "Where's Iris?"
"She's upstairs," Joe answered and Barry nodded as he made his way to the stairs, "but shouldn't you check up on Y/N first?"
With a foot on the first step, Barry turned his head to look at Joe with a confused expression. "Y/N?"
Joe raised an eyebrow abd nodded slowly. "She's with Cisco, but he just texted me saying that she's locked herself up in the bathroom and isn't answering him." Barry took hus foot off the staircase and turned his whole body towards Joe.
"Pretty sure if my father just died, I'd want my sister checking up on me," Wally assured, then looked at Joe with a grin. "Not that you're going to die, I'm just making a point." Joe rolled his eyes.
Barry's eyes made contact with a picture on the wall as Joe and Wally started playfully bickering. He wandered to it and looked at it to see himself and a girl he hasn't seen before, his arm draped around her and her doing the bunny ears behind his head. Wally's words repeated in his head as he looked at the picture and then it suddenly dawned on him. He has a sister.
Barry turned back around and looked at the two. "Yeah, alright," Barry said, nodding. "I'll head over to Cisco's and check up on... Y/N."
Barry knocked on the door and, within seconds, Cisco pulled it open. He sighed out in relief when he saw Barry, letting him in. "She's been in there ever since... you know," Cisco stated. "I can't get her to let me in. I've been trying to call you, but you weren't answering. Figured Joe would get to you or something. Anyway, pretty sure if she won't let you in, you could use your speed or whatever to get yourself in." Barry heard the desperation in his voice and immediately knew that you meant something to Cisco on a far greater scale than "just friends."
"Okay," Barry said, nodding. He made his way to the bathroom door and rapped his knuckles on the wood. "Y/N," Barry called out in a soft voice. "C'mon open the door."
"Leave me alone!" You called out. As soon as your voice reached Barry's ears, he suddenly remembered a memory.
Eleven year old Barry had his arm draped around a nine year old girl as he walked through the doors of Joe's house. As Joe was leading them deeper into the house, Barry's arms fell back to his side as the girl ran away from him and up the stairs.
"Y/N!" Joe called out, attempting to go up the stairs after you, but stopped when he reached the third step. He sighed and looked at Barry.
"I'll go get her," Barry said, dropping his backpack and walking up the stairs. He reached the top just in time to see you close yourself in the bathroom, but when he reached the door, he found that it was locked. "Y/N, will you let me in?"
"No!" You yelled. Barry slid to the ground, leaning against the bathroom door. "C'mon Y/N, please."
"I want mommy!" You screamed and Barry frowned, listening to your sobs. "Stardust," Barry smiled softly when he heard your sobs come to a halt. "Y/N."
