Jin was sitting in the dark nursing his second glass of whiskey when his text notification sounded.

Hoping it was Dae, dreading it being Alex, he checked his phone.

He smiled and sighed at how one word could give him so much hope

He smiled and sighed at how one word could give him so much hope.

He had missed Dae this past month.  He could not decide if it was worse to be a country apart from her and unable to see her or a room apart watching her intently but unable to talk to her.

He wanted her. He wanted her in his arms, his bed, across from him at breakfast, across from him in the boardroom.

For the first time in a long time he allowed himself to dream those things, then consider what it would take to give them a chance at that.

As always, after all this time, all the calculations, all the whiskey, he still hit the brick wall of her family- and his.

His thoughts darkened as he thought of his father's efforts to force him to be with Alex.  It became more unbearable every day.

He had point blank refused to pick her up for the Gala tomorrow night. He had told her to keep her driver available because she would need a ride home- alone.

She had just laughed that infuriating laugh and answered “we'll see.”

Jin had walked out and slammed the door. He hated the person he was with her.

Those thoughts drifted to Dae and Jimin.  Was he picking her up? Would he escort her home? Would she invite him in?  His mind was tortured as he imagined him kissing her, touching her.
Furious at the images in his head Jin slammed the cut crystal glass into the fireplace.

Cursing, he paced to the cart to replace it.  Settling back in his chair he proceeded to get well and truly drunk.

Dae slept well past noon, the first day in months she had that luxury.

She checked, but there was nothing else from Jin.  She hugged herself and thought about the dance she had promised him.
