Two weeks later...
These past two weeks have been a dream and an absolute blur.
A blurry dream.
We started blocking the scenes, the actors almost off-script by now. Some scenes have really come together, especially Emilia and Sam's ending scene. That was a tear-jerker.
With only a week left before filming, everybody is beaming with excitement.
But one afternoon Sam seemed incredibly introverted and withdrawn, which is so not like him at all. So, as a friend, I offered my support:
flashback
Sam stood apart from the crowd, frowning at his glowing phone screen. He was never this withdrawn, especially with his friends. He barely talked to anyone today unless he was in a scene, which wasn't his best work. Something was definitely wrong, so I decided I must help.
Smoothing out my denim skirt and off the shoulder white top, I approach Sam.
"Hey, Sam." I smile slightly.
His bright blue eyes look up in mine, a tinge of sadness residing behind them.
"Hey, Y/N." He purses his lips into a fake smile, putting his phone in his back pocket.
"Um...I don't want to intrude or anything, but I was wondering how you're doing today? I've noticed you seem a little...off?" I raise my eyebrows with concern.
All he does is chuckle sadly.
Something was definitely wrong.
"You know me way too well." He rubs his forehead. He whispers something to himself after, but I couldn't quite make it out.
"Are you okay?" I take a small step closer to him; the sounds of people talking and laughing echoing in the background.
"I'm..." he trails off, "not doing great. I-I mean life is a dream. I'm so fortunate with Claire in my life. She's an angel, but..." He pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Sam, why don't we go outside..." I motion so he can talk to me in the hallway, somewhere quieter.
He doesn't reply, all he does is grab my hand. My brows furrow in confusion as he leads me outside to his car. He lets go of my small hand to unlock his car door, his face a deep shade of crimson.
He pulls out a crumpled sheet of paper, his hands shaking slightly.
"Sam.." My eyes go wide, a million of thoughts swirling through my head.
"It was Rachel. It's nothing...too serious, but it's been in the back of my mind all day." He shows me the letter. I read in my head:
Sam,
I'm going to my parents today with Claire. Please do not contact us or come to their house. I just need to think and I'll be back sometime tomorrow.
Rachel
"She's been distant these past weeks...and I'm just a-afraid." His voice cracks as he tries not to cry.
"Sam, it's going to be okay. I promise." I wrap my arms around him. He holds me tightly, starting to cry into my shoulder. His forehead rests on my shoulder, his face buried into my neck.
