In the Frozen [Cal Kestis x Reader] (Complete)

The Mantis lands on the dessert planet after a long flight. The crew steps outside into the burning heat, the sound of flowing yellow sand filling the silence while their eyes lay upon the breathtaking scenery. "This is it", Y/n says as she shields her e/c eyes from the bright sun. "The base should be a few miles that way." She points into the said direction. "Let's hope we don't find Vader there", Cere mumbles as she takes in the sea of yellow that goes on for eternity.

"Why a dessert planet", Greez asks as he wipes the sweat from his green forehead. "This is a planet where a small rebellion started to slaughter the soldiers. So they stationed themselves here and since then the people lived in fear of the Empire."

"Oh..." Greez looks back onto the scenery after hearing the tragic story.

"We should prepare and attack at night. Our target the energy source and the plans of the Empire", Cere says. "If they are building a new weapon or plan to take any other planet we will know if we were successful." The crew goes back into the big ship behind them and rest.

The night comes faster than expected. As the sun goes down Y/n sits outside in the sand and watches the play in the sky. She likes sundowns, they remind her of better times and peace.

Suddenly she hears someone clearing their throat behind her. As she expected, it's Cal. "May I?" Y/n nods and the red haired male sits down next to her. "Are you okay", He asks. "I can sense that you're uneasy." Y/n sighs at his words. "It's just... I don't know. Everything used to be so different. The clone wars, the order. Our lives made a 180 degree flip."

"Yea, it sure did", Cal chuckles. "But I try to see the good in it. I met Cere, Greez, Merrin and, most importantly, I met you."

"Most importantly? I'd rather call it random." Both chuckle. "Yes, it was definitely random." Cal lets out a satisfied sigh. "You know, I kind of like this."

"What?"

"Going against the Empire with you as my partner. It's nice." A blush hushes over Y/n's cheeks as Cal lays down in the sand. "Wow, I never thought sand was this comfortable", He laughs. Y/n just shows disgust in her face as she looks down at the male next to her. "You like sand?"

"Yea. It's nice. Gives me a feel of vacation."

"Vacation", Y/n laughs. "You're ridiculous."

"Maybe", Cal chuckles. "Hey, Y/n." The said girl looks back down at Cal. "I don't think you're a bad person." Y/n's eyes widen in shock. "What? Me?"

"Yes, I don't care what Cere says about you, I like you." Y/n's cheeks turn redder with every word he says. "You have to promise me something." The girl looks back down at Cal with a raised eyebrow. "What?"

"Whatever happens, promise me that we'll meet again", Cal says in a soothing voice as he sits up and looks directly into Y/n's sparkling eyes. "Why? We just met."

"I don't care. I just want you to promise me that." He holds out his pinky with a calm smile. "Fine." Y/n wraps her finger around his as she looks into his blue eyes.

"Get up, you two", They suddenly hear Cere from the Mantis. "It's time. Merrin will be coming with us."

"Then let's do this thing."
