she hesitated for a second. was it correct to trust in this man?
but then the words "i live far" rang bells in her mind. she turned to look at him with widened eyes. "wait... we're going to your house?"
he glanced confused at her. "uh yes? i mean... i was going to invite you a subway sandwich or something like that but you need something better and i happen to know how to cook a comforting meal, the one you need right now."
she seemed confused and nervous for a second, she didn't imagine going to hyungwon's house, alone.
"no, listen we can eat anywhere... or we don't need to eat at all." she said shaking her head.
there was a traffic stop, a yellow light turning red and so the car stopped, he looked at her. "is it so bad for you to have a dinner with me? prepared by me?" his big and honest eyes somehow made her feel bad.
for not trusting him, for overreacting the way she did. this was a new hyungwon.
this wasn't nam gun, inho or the old hyungwon who made up all of those fake personalities. she knew this was a new man, a man who was not even the shade of the man he was.
"come on... first you didn't want to be my friend... but somehow you changed your mind along the way." he started, his voice was soft and warm.
she looked down to her hands. it was true.
"i misjudged you. i am sorry." she mumbled. he nodded.
"right. and now... as a friend i am inviting you to my house, to cook you a warm meal that will make you feel better... and you're still not trusting me."
their eyes met for a second, the lights reflected on her face, made him realized the light had turned green by now.
he returned his eyes to the road and soon felt the car starting again. "i get that we don't know each other that much but... you gotta let go sometimes... and just enjoy the little moments."
his words sounded much more mature than previous hyungwon. and there she was again, comparing them.
she cleared her throat. "you are right."
he smiled. "plus... you're kind of separated now... so you don't need to give anyone explanations."
they both chuckled. "you're right with that too."
"i am always right." he said with a reassuring nod. with that park soon didn't hesitate anything else for the rest of the way.
the conversation became light in the air and before she knew it, the whole thing about kihyun and her problems were set aside.
she found herself laughing with him, out loud and clear. "and that's how i started running with the dog on one arm and the old lady's bags on the other, and she was on my back screaming at me as i carried her all the way long - both faces were red from laughter.
he parked the car and both made their way out. he reunited with soon as they both were still laughing over hyungwon's hilarious tale about that time he helped an old lady to get to the subway on time.
"and before i knew, the dog jumped from my hand, it was so small and he started running away and the lady started cursing at both, the dog for running away from her and me for being too slow."
soon felt her stomach hurting since she had laughed plenty. "it was crazy but i had a lot of fun that day." he said as they both walked towards a building in front of them.
her eyes were filled with tears from the laughter, he introduced a code and both walked inside the lobby's. and old man greeted them with a big smile.
