"Watch it Manhattan!" A voice snaps at me. I mumble an apology and run into the library before anyone else gets a chance to notice me again.

Now, I guess I'm not exactly bullied in a way. I'm just generally very very disliked by many people in my high school. It's all because of this one popular cheerleader. I tripped over my shoelace one time and I spilled my coffee all over her boyfriend. I was patting his shirt with a napkin trying to get the stain out, but she thought I was feeling up his chest.

Fast forward to senior year, and she's gotten a lot of people to think I'm a failed attempt at a boyfriend stealer. In high school, boyfriend stealers aren't exactly popular. Understandable but I'm not a boyfriend stealer! That's ridiculous!

"Excuse me?" A voice says interrupting my thoughts.

"Huh?" I ask turning around. My mouth drops open a little before I close it again. It's a boy. One of the boys.

"Will Griffin." The boy sticks out his hand.

"I'm aware of who you are." I say, not bothering to shake his hand. I turn around and start walking back to the shelves. That was Will Griffin. The new kid. He transferred here two weeks ago with two of his friends.

The not exactly bad and not exactly good boys of Decker High. The golden boys. I should stay away from them.

"Wait! I never got your name!" Will says rushing after me. This gets my attention.

"Manhattan Hood ring a bell? People call me lots of rude names, like I don't know, hoe and whore and slut," I say coldly. I push past him, further into the shelves to the shortcut to my chemistry class.

It's okay. You don't need to sympathize me. I'm used to it.

I blended in with my other classmates rushing into Mr. Matthews' chemistry class. No one tried to trip me or call me names. No one could see me. These were the moments I liked. I hurried to the back of the class where I put my head low.

"I'll be assigning seats now because Sarah and Daniel over there," Mr. Matthews announces, pauses to point at Sarah and Daniel making out in a corner. "Can't keep their hands off each other."

"They've got plenty of chemistry!" Someone jokes. The class laughs.

"Manhattan Hood." Mr. Matthews says in a bored tone, pointing me to my new seat by a window. I get up and when I head to my seat someone sticks their leg out, attempting to trip me.

I jump over their leg lightly. "Sorry," I whisper, trying to play it off as their leg was accidentally there. Their hiss of annoyance proved me wrong.

"Parker Wilson." Mr. Matthews says pointing to the chair next to me.

"Alright!" Parker whoops, jumping over his desk and sitting down next to me. "So hows it going?" he asks me.

For once, the entire class is silent. Parker Wilson, the Parker Wilson, is okay with being partners with me? Scratch that, he's talking to me? Everyone's surprised.

I slowly raise my eyebrows at Parker as a question. He grins and does the same. I glare at him, daring him to look away. He happily glares back, daring me to look away. Starting to feel uncomfortable, I look away. His eyes are still on me, and so is the rest of the class. No one's looked at me that long in a long time.
