Oh, crap. What about James? I totally forgot to call him. Maybe I'll tell him-
But my heart stops before I could muster up another thought.
In the lobby of the hotel room is a fireplace with couches and chairs sprawled about. My chest hurts as I see Sam cozying up with a book in front of the fire. His lips were pursed in a line, and I could see his stiff stance from miles away.
New plan. Talk to Sam. Now.
I approach slowly, hearing my heavy footsteps bounce off the marble floor.
I don't have time to peel off my wet jacket, put down my bags, or compose myself before talking to him. He looks up at me with sparkling eyes before I get the chance. I swallow hard as we just stare at each other.
We could share millions of words with just our eyes. I hold the most guilty, apologetic look on my face. But he just holds softness. Acceptance.
I finally put my bags on the floor, standing a few feet away from his chair now. I clear my throat as quietly as I can, not letting the tears to re-emerge. I've cried enough.
"Sam, I just want to talk to you, if you'll let me-" I start, looking into his entrapping eyes.
"Y/N! Y/N!" I hear a familiar voice from behind me. I turn around to see Emilia with panicked and wide eyes, holding up her phone. Her chest in heaving with irregular breaths, and Sam and I both look at her with confusion.
"Em? What's wrong, are you alright?" She crashes in front of us, glancing at us both worriedly.
"Someone got a hold of our conversation this morning, Y/N. It's...online, now. Someone recorded it...and gave it to the media."
My heart drops into my stomach. I feel the blood drain from my body and turn ice cold. I can barely hear Emilia continue to talk, my eyes are solely on Sam.
"You need to see who sent it..."
A million thoughts are racing through my head, but I knew first and foremost that Sam was the top priority.
"Emilia, I'd like to have a quick talk with Sam, please." I swallow hard, my entire body trembling.
"Of course." She rubs my arm, leaving us alone. The hotel lobby was stranded, only a few stragglers walking about. No one would hear what I have to say except Sam and I, and that's what's important.
"What happened?" Sam meets my eyes, furrowing his brows. His voice was deep and gruff with concern. I glance around once more, biting my lip and swallowing my fear.
"I'm going to explain, but first just know that it was all my doing. Sam...I want to start just by apologizing. I'm...so sorry for dragging you into so much turmoil and chaos. I never, ever would want to hurt you, and I'm so, so sorry for the way I've been acting." I start, Sam now standing in front of me. "I need to just come clean. That's what's going to fix things."
Alright, this is when it happens. Just say it, Y/N. Just tell him.
"For a few months, Sam, I've been...having feelings for you again." I say smoothly, feeling a sudden weight lift off of me as I utter the words.
"I started dating James when I thought I was over you, but the truth is Sam...I don't think I'll really ever be over you. And in that video got leaked...that's what I was telling Emilia. I started to think Sam...that I'm the reason you and Rachel got divorced. B-but I know now, that...that's not the case..." I shake my head, pouring out everything I've been building up for months. Sam looks at me intently, but doesn't say a word.
