Breakfast with Kunikida was as simple as it sounded. By that, it meant (Y/n) enjoyed having a mature conversation with another grownup. As she enjoyed her rolled omelet, also known as tamagoyaki, she listened to Doppo explain the uses of his journal, what ideals were most important to him, and how truly upset he felt about how yesterday's situation was handled. (Y/n) didn't have much to say on any of those topics, but listening was enough to make Kunikida feel appreciated.
Today, the way she dressed made her feel like she was on a date with the young man. If anyone were to ask, (Y/n) would immediately correct them by informing that it was a business meeting. (Y/n) was dressed in a two-piece outfit that felt great to wear on such a hot day. The top piece was an (f/c) and floral crop-top that hung off-the-shoulders and ended just above her belly-button. As for the bottoms, they were of the same color, pattern, and looseness that ended above the knee. To complement her outfit, (Y/n) wore a cloth headband that pushed her (h/c) hair back.
It was nice to have someone sit and talk to. Both of them enjoyed one another's company until Doppo's phone started reading. (Y/n) figured it would be Dazai finally calling in to announce that he was alright, or to make a commotion on why no one has found him yet. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The subway Akiko and Atsushi took on their way back to Yokohama was ambushed by two members of the Port Mafia.
Thankfully, Akiko handled the situation and had passengers and the train back safely at the station. Although, Atsushi nearly risked his own life to save the young girl. Kunikida had to excuse himself to retrieve Atsushi and a Kyoka. While he did that, (Y/n) assisted Akiko when she returned to the Agency.
"Is she going to be okay?" Atsushi asked (Y/n) when she stepped out of the infirmary. A sigh slipped from the woman's lips as she sat next to the orphan boy. Her flats clamped against them tile flooring when she did so. "I think so," (Y/n) said. "I also think that you were really brave to do that. And I misjudged you. I knew that from the start, but you proved it now." Atsushi smiled as (Y/n) placed a hand on his shoulder. "I misjudged you too," he chuckled. "You're not as scary as you seem. You are very sweet and caring. And I think kindness is enough justice for you from the bad things that have happened in your life."
Again, Atsushi's words shocked her and made her rethink about herself. Before she could dwell on the topic, the two were approached by Kunikida, who has been trying to reach Dazai for an hour now. "You brought trouble back with you yet again," Doppo said. "She's a lost cause. Don't lie to the boy, (Y/n)." (Y/n) eyes narrowed towards Kunikida as she stood back up. "Excuse me? I'm not lying to him, and she isn't a lost cause." Kunikida cleared his throat as he made eye contact with Atsushi. This situation reminded him of two parents arguing in front of the child.
"The girl's a well-known assassin. She tricks her targets by making them let their guard down with her younger appearance. Then annihilates entire organizations. She's accomplished too much too quickly," Doppo informed. (Y/n) said nothing to those facts about Kyoka. The reason why is because Doppo hasn't given her a reason not to trust him. "But," Atsushi mumbled. "Whoever is taking advantage of her is the one to blame."
Atsushi was wise for his age, and (Y/n) knew that. Instead of butting into the conversation, she slipped back inside Akiko's office. "Tell them she's awake." (Y/n) did just that. She told Kunikida she was awake, and Atsushi rushed inside the room without hesitation. "Allow me to question her," Kunikida said. "It's not like I'm taking her back to my organization," (Y/n) scoffed.
"Are you okay?" Atsushi asked. "Um, this is the infirmity at the agency. How are you feeling? You remember me, right?" (Y/n) placed a hand on the boy's shoulders when he started leaning too close to Kyoka's face. "Atsushi, relax. Let her wake up," she whispered to him. Atsushi nodded and did so, but he continued to fidget. The girl with the long, navy-blue hair continued to stare up at the ceiling as if she was trying to recall everything before this moment. Who could blame her?
