The sun had fully risen over the horizon, and it shone through Hailey's window, waking her up. Hailey slowly opened her eyes, and gave the sun an annoyed look. She turns away from the window, and reaches for her phone on her bed side table. She opens it and sees a text message from her partner, now secret boyfriend, Jay Halstead. It was a simple good morning text, but Hailey had the biggest smile on her face as she replied to the text message.
Outside of Hailey's room, Lizzie was making her way down the stairs to the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast. As she arrives in the kitchen, she sees Vanessa, but what was weird for her is that Hailey was nowhere to be found. "Where's Hailey," she asks Vanessa. "Upstairs," Vanessa replied, and continues to say, "and no it's not only you who thinks that something's going on." Lizzie nods, and asks, "What do you think is going on?" Before Vanessa could reply to Lizzie, they heard the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Morning," Hailey says as she enters the kitchen. Lizzie was seated on one of the bar stools, and she turned to look at Hailey weirdly, "Why are you weirdly happy today," Lizzie asks, somewhat having an idea of what was going on. Hailey walks towards the coffee maker, as she replies, "I am?" She tried playing it off like she was confused, but Lizzie didn't fall for it as she replied, "And they say you're supposed to be good at being undercover." Hailey just finished pouring her coffee into a cup, then she immediately turns around and eyes Lizzie, trying to make her drop the topic.
Vanessa knew what Hailey was trying to do by eyeing Lizzie like that, "You've just been acting weird lately," she says, trying to save Lizzie from the situation. "No, I'm not," Hailey says, immediately defending herself from what Vanessa said. From the moment she confessed her feelings to Jay, she knew that it would be harder for her to hide her relationship from Vanessa and Lizzie than Sgt. Voight. But, before Hailey could further defend herself from the situation, a sudden knock on the door was heard. "I got it," Hailey immediately says. She didn't wait for anyone's reply as she set her coffee on the counter, and rushed to the front door, leaving Vanessa and Lizzie wondering what was going on. Hailey was now in front of the closed front door, about to open it as she realized that she didn't know who was on the other side. The exchange of messages with Jay made her think that he was at the front door. Before Hailey could stop herself from opening the door to a stranger, she already unlocked the lock of the door, and twisted the door knob.
