During the car ride to the district, Kevin started telling Vanessa who he saw, and why they suddenly needed to leave to tell Sgt. Voight in person who they saw. When Kevin finished bringing Vanessa up to speed, Vanessa started thinking. After she heard the name of the detective Kevin saw, her mind started to think of so many possibilities with only one thing standing out, her mother. She always wondered who her mother was, or just why she left her, but really considered looking for her, because with all her years in foster care, it felt like her mother didn't really want her. Another thought came as quickly as she thought of Detective Rachael Rojas to be her mother, this thought eventually made her realize that it might just be a coincidence that they had the same last name. She was hoping too much again, she swore she wouldn't hope about the people who left her, she swore to look forward.
Even though Vanessa told herself to stop thinking about it, that there was too little or no chance that Det. Rachael Rojas was her mother, she couldn't stop thinking about that possibility. There was an actual possibility, a chance that Det. Rojas could be her mother. Vanessa started debating with herself, because the last time she hoped this much, it only brought her pain and sadness. Then, after a while of debating with herself, she decided that she was not going to hope anymore, she concluded that this could just be another situation where she hopes, then pain and heartbreak would just come after. Although Vanessa told herself that, she still couldn't shake the feeling off.
After a long drive, the intelligence team finally arrived at the district. They quickly made their way up to the second floor with Hailey and Jay taking charge of telling Sgt. Voight who they saw. The two detectives made their way to Sgt. Voight's office. Moments later they arrived in front of Sgt. Voight's office door. They were suddenly brought back to their conversation a while ago, but they just shook the scared feeling off, there were more important things to focus on than their fear. Hailey took the initiative to knock on the door. Sgt. Voight immediately looked up to see his two detectives, he thought that they were finished with today's agenda, but judging by the look on their faces, he knew there were unexpected problems that showed up.
