Clueless and Discovering

Haileys POV
"Halstead?!" I asked now in total shock
"What did you know her by?"
"Isabelle Morgan!" I said and both of us looked at Isabelle; she looked down
"I'm sorry ok? I knew Jay was a cop and i wasn't sure if you knew him or not. I couldn't risk him finding out about the store thing..." said Isabelle
"What store thing?" Asked Jay
Isabelle didn't answer
"Well?!" Jay looked over at me
"About three years ago, I arrested Isabelle after she was caught stealing from a convenience store and somehow the cashier got shot, we didn't have enough evidence to press charges since we didn't find the gun but there was a witness that said that Isabelle did it" I finish
"I didn't shoot that guy and you know it!" Isabelle said in defense
"Either way you were stealing!?" Practically almost yelled Jay
"It was a sack of bread for the love of god not a TV!"
"Where are your parents?" Jay asked kind of annoyed
Isabelle once again stayed silent. Jay looked over at me
"Isabelle where are they?" I ask
"Isabelle!"
"They died ok!" I saw some tears forming in her eyes "my mom died of cancer and my dad died in prison"
Now I felt really bad
"Who are you staying with"
"Alone at the house"
"Why didn't you call me?" Said Jay a little more calm now. Isabelle looked up
"Really Jay? After all this time just call you or Will and be like 'oh hey I know we haven't talked in a while but my parents just died and I need a place to crash is it ok if I stay with you?'" At this point the tears were streaming down her face. Jay sighed
"Come on" he said which made me and Isabelle confused
"What?"
"Do you really think I'm letting you go home alone? You can stay at my place for as long as needed" he said and the tears disappeared of of Isabelle's face
"Really?" She said wide eyed
"Yeah. Let's go. You can pick up your stuff from your house later" he finished putting his arm around Isabelle and started to walk.
I just smiled at the scene in front of me. We made it to the precinct and we're taking Isabelle to the break room
"Who's this?" Asked Trudy looking at me and Jay
"This is my cousin Isabelle"
"I didn't know you had more family Halstead?" Said Trudy sort of confused
"Just the part I don't talk about" said Jay as we walked upstairs
When we arrived everyone was shocked of the kid next to them
"Who is this?" Asked Adam
"This is Isabelle my cousin"
"Cousin?" Asked Vanessa
"Yeah"
"Hello" said Isabelle kind of shyly
"Why is she here?"
"Because she's gonna be staying with me for a while" said Jay and with that no one said anything
"Go into the break room" I said and she did so

Jays POV
When I saw her go into the break room it all hit me at once; I just invited my 12 year old cousin; who I haven't seen in forever; to come live with me. What was I thinking? Me taking care of a kid? But was I really just gonna let her go home by herself? My thoughts were interrupted by Voight
"Hailey what did you get?" He asked
"This is Tyrone Rae," she said hanging up the picture "he is our victims ex boyfriend. He's been harassing Sandra. She got a restraining order but that didn't stop him, Marc called the cops but they didn't do much"
"Ok I got an address for his house" said Kevin looking at his computer
"Hit it" Voight said as we grabbed our jackets and left. We arrested him after running DNA and Voight told us to go home. I grabbed Isabelle and left. The car ride was silent. We made it to her address. She came out with two small suitcases
"That's it?"
"Yeah" she said as I put them in the trunk
"Ok let's go"
We arrived at my apartment and I showed Isabelle to the guest room before leaving the room, when I came back I handed her a key
"Welcome home" I said closing the door
