Clueless and Discovering

Isabelles POV
I start to unpack. It felt kind of weird. This room was smaller than the one I had at my house, this one had a bed in the far corner, a window with long curtains and a desk. I didn't have much to unpack since my dad passed I didn't have much money for clothes and eventually they kept getting smaller until they didn't fit. I quickly unpack and take out my phone to call my best friend
"Bria you there?" I say through the phone
"Yeah what's up, you still up for the sleepover?" she said exited
"Yeah umm I'm gonna have to cancel"
"Why?" She asked now sad
"Long story..."
"I've got time"
"Well remember I told you about my cousin Jay?"
"Yeah"
"And Hailey?"
"Also"
"Well apparently they're partners and after I met with Hailey he got to me while there"
"Yickes. So we're are you now?"
"At his house, he told me to stay with him for now"
"How's the room looking?"
"Small"
"Small that I can't sleep over?"
"Oh we can make it work, just not now because you know I just moved in and all.."
"Yeah totally get it"
"Isabelle foods ready!!" Jay yelled form across the hall
"Talk to you later Bria"
"Bye!" She said and hung up
I changed into a green jumper and black leggings. I make my way down the hall and smell spaghetti. Last time I saw Jay I was 5 and I remember he didn't know how to make toast. I guess time does fly...
"When did you learn to cook?" I ask with a smile
"After I came back from the rangers, though this is the only thing I can make right now" he said pointing at the spaghetti and I laughed. He passed me a plate and we started talking
"So since when have you been on your own" he asked
"Since I was 8. Hasn't been too bad though"
"I'm sorry i wasn't there"
"You didn't know- Anyways, what's up with you and Hailey?" he widens his eyes

Jays POV
I was shocked was she just asked. Was there something between us? I decided to stay on the safe side.
"What? Me and Hailey? Nothing we're just partners" I say defensively. A smile grew on Isabelle's face "What?" I asked kind of annoyed
"You like her!" She said and made me slightly turn red
"What? No! That's weird and unprofessional"
"Keep telling yourself that" she said and gets up, goes behind me and put her hands on my shoulder and says a little loudly
"Jays got a cruuush!
"Shut up!" I say laughing and we hear the doorbell. I get up and open the door.
"Hailey?"

Isabelles POV
I look over and see Hailey at the door
"Hey" said Hailey "can I come in"
"Umm yeah sure" Jay said
"Well I'm going to my room" I say which was a lie
I acted as if I was going my room but while I was standing outside I opened the door and acted as if I went inside. When they were distracted, I crawled into the kitchen and listened to the conversation; I know it's 'violating their privacy' and other crap but it's been a while since I eavesdropped on an adults conversation since; you know...
"So what's up?" Said Jay
"I just didn't feel like being alone right now"
"Oh ok"
"How's Isabelle?"
"She's good, honestly better than I thought"
Did he think I was gonna freak out or something?
"Ok well wanna watch a movie?" Asked Hailey.
"Sure I'll call Isabelle" said Jay
I panicked a little. I crawled as fast as I could without making noise, I opened the door and jumped on the bed then Jay came in
"Hey you wanna watch a movie?"
"Sure" I got up
We put the movie on and I took out my phone since i didn't like the movie. Halfway through the movie I look over and see Hailey and Jay asleep; Haileys head on Jays shoulder and Jays head on top of Haileys. I took out my phone and took a picture and sent it to Bria with the context 'love birds 🥰'
I brought a blanket over and put it over them. Then I see Haileys phone light up and the name 'Vanessa' pop up. I look at the photo and realize she works with Hailey. I take the phone and answer the call
"Hello?" I said sort of embarrassed
"Who is this?"
"I'm Isabelle Halstead, we met today"
"Oh why do you have Haileys phone?"
"She came over here and talked to Jay for a while. They put on a movie and fell asleep. I'll let her know you called"
"Ok thanks bye"
"Goodnight" I say and hang up
I head to bed after scrolling through instagram.
When I wake up I head to the living room, Hailey and Jay are still asleep. I start making breakfast (which I'm used to doing since I lived alone) then I hear jay start to get up
"Morning" I say

Jays POV
I tried to get up but I felt weight on my shoulder; it was Hailey. Shoot. We must have fell asleep during the movie. "Morning" I hear Isabelle call from the kitchen. I move Haileys head of my shoulder softly and go to the kitchen
"Good morning" I said
"How'd you sleep" she asked with a smirk
"I see what you're doing!" I said and started making toast
"Look who can finally make toast without burning the kitchen down!" Said Isabelle laughing "are you gonna wake her up? You do have work you know?" She said pointing at Hailey
"Yeah I'll go"
I walked over to Hailey and touched her shoulder
"Hailey?" She shifted a little and opened her eyes, them later going wide after seeing me
"Jay? What...?"
"You fell asleep after the movie"
"Oh" she said embarrassed
"Want breakfast?" Yelled Isabelle from the kitchen
"Sure" said Hailey
"By the way 'Vanessa' called" Isabelle said
"Oh I'll call her back later"
We went to the table and started having breakfast
