Y/N had a very simple life.
A simple life that she loved.
Every morning she would help her mother amd Jake outside with the laundry.

One night, Y/N heard something. She sat up in bed and looked at Jake. He had sat up in his bed too.

They sat.

They listened.

Jake told Y/N that he wanted to go check what it was. Y/N told him no. It would be safer for them to act like they were asleep.

"Y/N, I'm the man of the house."

"Jake that has nothing to do with this. They could have a gun!"

"They don't have a gun." Jake dismissed her worries, already putting on his slippers.

"Jake please, stop."

"Y/N, it's probably nothing."

"Jake,"

"You don't need to worry. It's pretty sweet that you do though."

"Of course I worry, you ass!"

"There's the Y/N, I know."

Jake opened their bedroom door and peered into the hallway.

"I don't see anything."

A large creak rumbled through the house.

"Maybe we should get mom." Y/N said, "I don't think anyone is breaking in but something could be wrong with the house."

"Mom just finished paying off this place. If she found out something was wrong with it-"

Another rumble.

"Is it an earthquake? We should probably wake her up, Jake!"

"That is if she isn't awake already."

The house began to shake and the tremors started. Jake and Y/N fell to their knees, wobbling about. Y/N was able to get a grip along the siding and started going towards her moms room. He mother was curled up in bed, in her own little world.

"Mom!"

"What is it, Y/N?" Her mothers speech was drowsy and slow.

"Mom." Y/N could smell the alcohol, "Mom we have to go."

"No. I don't have to go anywhere."

"Come on, I'll help you get on your slippers." Y/N looked for the cotton pink slippers she had given mom last christmas.

"I don't want to go, Y/N."

The scaffolding holding up the ceiling bit by bit started go come down.

"We don't have a choice. There's an earthquake. You could die! Don't you understand!"

"No, you don't understand! I don't want to leave."

"You're saying that because you're drunk!"

"I am wide awake! This is my time to go."

"Mom- no, no, no. Come on, give me your feet, we have to get your shoes on!"

"Leave me alone!" Her mother kicked her in the chest. Y/N held her breast tissue in searing pain and heaved over.

"Y/N! Are you okay!" Her brothers voice called from the door.

"Mom just kicked my right tit!"

"Yeah, she'll do that. Y/N, we have to go!"

Jake picked up Y/N around the middle and booked it for the side door. Once outside, he dropped his sister about to go back in.

The roof gave way.
