"That tactic you used of acting injured was a pretty good trick."
"I learned it from you."
Having been homeless for so long, adapting and changing, it was the only way Y/N new how to live. It was basic instinct now.
"If you want, I could teach you to fight."
"You want to be a teacher?" Y/N joked, "You don't come across as the patient type."
"Well I did a good job when you were coming down on me with those crazy people fists."
"Crazy people fists- I was frustrated- wasn't that point just go get my anger out."
"Yes, and you succeeded but if you really want to learn to fight-"
"Do you really see me as someone who can fight?" Y/N called Raph out, gesturing to her body.
Y/N was a very small person. Naturally, she had had a good weight, about average for her height, but ever since she became homeless, she had lost a good amount. Sure she gained some back but she wasn't doing too hot.
"I'm not um, healthy, you know? Or strong. I used to be-"
"Nah, I get it, I shouldn't of- gosh I'm a jerk."
"No, I'm just pathetic."
"Hey you kiss your moth- never mind."
Y/N laughed. For the first time in so long, she found herself laughing at this mutant creature accidentally joking at the expense of her dead mother.
Raph smiled, he liked Y/Ns laugh. Or at least it was a relief to him that he had not made her cry just now.
"You know," He started, "Donnie can help you get your- you know what- back."
"I don't think I want that back."
When Y/Ns period had started to become irregular, Y/N was nearly ecstatic. She had no supplies to take care of herself and periods arent that great but when a different pain other than cramps came to visit, she was in tears.
But now, Y/N did not think it was possible to get back her period.
"Hey I get it."
"No you don't." Y/N called out, laughing.
"Well, I'm saying that option is there. Also April and- she's the only other female I know." Raph concluded, "Also Master Splinter was married so maybe he knows about it."
"Raph, can we talk about something else."
"Of course," He huffed, scolding himself for talking about something he really didn't understand.
The two made their ways back go the couch. Mikey was still passed out cold but the TV had become static.
Raphael turned it off as Y/N sat down, sitting criss-cross. He went over to Mikey, lugged him over his shoulder and took him to what you assumed was Mikey's room.
He hoped over the couch sitting next to you.
"You know April can fight and her knees are size of pin pricks."
"Raphael please,"
"So when did the incident happen? You know, earthquake and-"
"Oh. Well it was late summer I think. So, August?"
"Well it's November so that makes it-"
"Four months."
"Yeah, four months."
The two sat not really knowing what else to say. Y/N thought about going back to bed but she didn't just want to leave Raph alone.
"Hey, are you cold?" Raphael asked,
Y/N realised they were shaking.
Raphael took Y/N's hand in his, much to Y/Ns surprise. She took her hand back immediately.
"I'm not the one who is cold, Raph. You are."
"That's what happens when I'm cold blooded I guess."
Y/N huffed, taking Raphs hand in her own. He was freezing. She rubbed her hands quickly around it, using this time to finally examine his hand.
It was twice as big as her own. Raph seemed a bit uneasy. It wasn't that he didnt like the warm feeling but he didn't know why he liked it. Y/Ns frail hands, warming his own muscular ones.
At one point, the wrappings started to come off.
Y/N quickly apologised and stopped.
Raph cursed to himself, easily fixing it, wishing they could have continued.
Y/N took Raphs hand again, but this time just held it in her lap. She studied it, drawing one finger from the bottom of his palm go his middle finger.
Raph did not know what to say. What did she think? He found himself wanting her approval.
The silence was interrupted by a soft remark.
"You don't have finger prints."
