Y/N stirred slowly, the morning light slipping through the cracks in the old hideout window. Her eyes fluttered open to see Macaque still in her arms, his head resting gently on her chest, his hair tickling her skin. His breathing was slow and steady, soft like a child's. He was using her like a pillow—and she didn't mind in the slightest.
She smiled sleepily and gently ran her fingers through his dark, tangled hair. It was the first time in what felt like forever that they shared a moment like this. No battles. No running. No gods. Just them.
His tail was curled lazily around her leg, like a cat claiming its favorite place.
Her heart ached—not from sadness, but from love. Fierce, protective love.
She was mortal. Fragile. But she wouldn't let anything take this away from her.
If she had to die protecting him, then so be it.
Macaque stirred against her, letting out a groggy little groan as he nuzzled further into her chest.
"Mmm... warm..."
Y/N blushed and playfully pushed his face.
"Stop doing that, you pervert."
He cracked a grin without opening his eyes and suddenly rolled on top of her, pinning her down with a mischievous glint.
"If I'm a pervert, then you're a temptress," he teased, before tickling her sides.
Y/N let out a loud laugh, squirming beneath him.
"Ahh! Stop—Macaque! I-I'm gonna pee—STOP!"
He finally relented with a satisfied smirk, brushing the hair out of her face before kissing her forehead. Then he stood and made his way to the kitchen.
A few moments later, he returned with a wooden bowl full of colorful fruit. Y/N's eyes lit up.

"Thank you," she murmured, her voice soft as she took it from him. She ate eagerly, not realizing how hungry she truly was. Without hesitation, she picked out the mango slices and handed them to him, knowing it was his favorite.
He took them with a quiet smile, their fingers brushing.
