Keith had left Voltron to join the Blade of Marmora because he desperately wanted to hide his feelings for Lance. He didn't want the others to know he liked boys. It would be just another thing that set him apart from his friends, like being half Galra. But when Allura decides to step back from Voltron to spread her father's message across the galaxy and pilot the Castle of Lions, and Lance returns to the Blue Lion, Keith will need to return to Voltron to pilot the Red Lion.
