Different (Completed)

LANCE

I paced the small area of Keith's room. It still smelled like him. Like fresh wild flowers in bloom after rain.

I held his stupid cropped red jacket in my hands.

I really hate this jacket.

I ran my fingers over the leather work thinking how stupid the jacket looked, but how damn good it looked on Keith.

"How long has he been like that?" Allura's voice came from around the corner.

"Since the morning we found Keith gone." Pidge's matter of fact tone replied.

"It's been what? Four Earth days?" Hunk chimed in.

"Yep." Pidge made a popping sound.

I narrowed my eyes at their teasing.

Was I the only one concerned?  Shiro at least got permission to take off and find him.  I however was stuck here to wait and worry.

"I can hear you guys!" I called holding the jacket a little tighter.

Why am I so worried? I barely know the guy. I mean sure we shared that- kiss, but that doesn't mean anything right?

If it meant something then he wouldn't have left. Right?

The door opened revealing the three of them and their pitiful stares.

"What?" I snapped.

"Shiro will bring him back. You'll see. Keith is a paladin of Voltron. Even if he has ties with the Blade of Marmora he will return." Allura spoke confidently.

"I know, but what did we do to make him leave?" I asked scratching the top of my head.

Allura cast her gaze aside while Pidge and Hunk seemed stumped.

"Well he hasn't had much interaction with other humans, maybe hanging out with us freaked him out?" Pidge quirked a brow.

"Perhaps we can all do our own part in making him feel more comfortable?" Coran suggested popping around the corner.

"I'm gonna make some cookies for when he gets back." Hunk smiled cheerfully before hurrying to the kitchen.

"I'm gonna hook up that video game, and show him how to play." Pidge giggled rushing back to her room.

"I suppose I should apologize to him and get to know him better as a person. I haven't exactly been welcoming of him due to his connection to the Blade, and that's not very fair of me to do." Allura pursed her lips.

"He knows it's not him or the Blade you dislike, but like it or not he is connected to Galra. I guess not all of them are bad like Zarkon. Same with humans. Not everyone is a bad person." I smiled in her direction.

"You're right Lance." Allura smiled before leaving me alone in his room. I sat on the floor with his jacket still in my hands.

"What should I do to make him feel more welcome?" I murmured to myself.

An image of us kissing flicked across my mind, but I quickly dismissed it.

I can't do that. I'm not even sure what happened there. It was all sort of hazy.

"You could say welcome back for starters." Keith's teasing tone broke the silence around me causing me to leap to my feet.

Shrieking, in a not at all girlish way, I spun around clutching his jacket close to my chest.
