Different (Completed)

LANCE

I woke to a ringing in my ears.

Man my head hurts. The last thing I remember is-

"Lance, Keith is pregnant."

Holy quiznak it wasn't a dream!?

I grunted as opened my eyes. I was still in the infirmary. Keith was still in his healing pod. Seeing him in there brought on a whole new wave of anxiety.

"Ah. You've awakened. I was starting to wonder if perhaps my machine broke." Coran fiddled with his mustache.

"Sorry. How's Keith and-"

The baby.

I swallowed the lump that rose in my throat.

"Your unborn child. The fruit of your loins. The legacy you've implanted in-"

"Coran!" I shouted cutting him off as I covered my ears before it could get any worse.

I removed my hands as an apologetic look crossed his features.

"Both are doing quite well. As much as I'd like to keep them induced and study them, it's time for them to wake. It isn't good for you to have your mate in this state."

"It is weird that this mating thing affects me too even though I'm human." I murmured staring at Keith's still form. The sound of two steady heartbeats thrummed in my ears like the beat of drums.

"It's all about hormones." Coran began but I silenced him with a yelp.

"I don't want to know!" I wailed.

Coran laughed at that and lowered the barrier. Keith stumbled out of the pod only to be caught by me.

As strange as it sounded having him in my arms gave me self assurance. I lowered to my knees and cradled his head on my lap. I brushed his thick hair from his eyes and smiled down at his face.

I can't believe he's pregnant. How could this happen?

Well I know how and probably when- I paused in my thoughts to smirk.

"What's so funny?" Keith's rapsy sleepy voice broke through my thoughts. I glanced down to see him looking up at me groggily.

"Hey, how do you feel?" I asked.

"A little nauseated to be honest. I think fainting really- what?" Keith asked as I cast a worried glance to Coran.

"It's perfectly normal." Coran waved away my worry.

"What's normal?" Keith asked as Allura and Shiro stepped into the room.

"Keith, we are so glad you are awake. How do you feel?" Allura asked with a bright smile.

"Uh- okay." His eyes darted in my direction still waiting for me to acknowledge his unanswered question.

"I spoke to Shiro about setting up a bed of sorts in here. It would be much easier and safer to run tests and such in here with all of this technology than in your room. Unless you'd be more comfortable there." Allura droned on and on.

The more she talked the more I could feel the heat burning against the side of my face. Keith was glaring at me.

He wanted answers. Now.

"Could I have a moment alone with Keith?" I asked speaking up for the first time. Shiro nodded and grasped the princesses arm and led her from the room. Coran cleared his throat and followed close behind.
