The two of you grew to be friends and detectives along the way, although L became the worlds greatest detective, surpassing you. But ever since that faithful day you met him, you'd been adding to your own little case, one you'd work on for years to come. Case file: L Lawliet. Why did you feel so attached to him?

The institution known as Wammy's House was, as you probably already know, founded for the purpose of raising extraordinarily gifted children that would grow up to benefit society. An undeniably noble goal. And yet, that quiet orphanage in Winchester hides behind its modest facade the bloodied remains of two innocent children who's traumas would haunt their legacy forever. The generation of failures - A and B. We all know of the infamous B, Beyond Birthday, perpetrator of the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. The symphony of his life was a tragic, cascading hysteria; ringing of fury and devastation in the ears of our troubled organisation. ...But what of A? Well, the official story goes like this: A (or Above Asphodel), was the first of L's successors, and, unable to handle the enormous pressure, committed suicide at seventeen. But that's inaccurate. In truth, A suffered years of abuse that the hands of the Wammy's House. And more importantly, A didn't truly die. Every life can be read as a parable with a moral and a theme. Those of us whose lives were marred by extreme misfortune are given temporary refuge from death and rebirth to heal the wounds they suffered. Above Asphodel was one of these people. And, seven years after Above's suicide, the detective known as L met an untimely death as well, at the hands of Kira. His too was a life cut short; a story incomplete. But there's no such thing as 'the end'. There is no final act of existence. The fact is, we continue to exist long after we're gone, the only difference being what form we take, and for what purpose. And the Universe, in her usual enigmatic fashion, chose to continue the stories of the first two Wammy's kids post-mortem.

The duo visit the crime scene of their very first case and quickly realize that something was off. He had no reason to suicide. Their simple case quickly turns deadly as the death note resurfaces and the deepest, darkest secrets of the world's most powerful countries are exposed, forcing Kana to turn to an old associate, Near, for help. As Near and Kana dig up the past, memories surface, causing tension between the two detectives who are steadily falling for each other. Will they be able to push aside their past and move on ? Will they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other ? Who is the new owner of the deathnote ? What are their motives ? Will they get drunk on its power like Kira before them? Until he's pushed into a corner with a particularly tricky case, and ends up having to make his first face to face interaction. Instead they're met with a tired, young and rather huggable looking guy with eyebags holding a torn notebook page saying "I am L, and I can't talk" -- GNC READER. Y/N never asked for much in life. A room to call her own, a simple routine, and a few goals to offer direction as she finished school. And maybe as few people involved in between as possible. Despite that, she soon finds that she's getting yanked from that quiet world and into a much bigger one that involves the fate of society as a whole. Perhaps the entire direction it would take in the future. When a series of unfortunate events leads to her being abducted as a potential suspect in the international Kira case, soon she gets more involved in a matter she already was avoiding thinking about a LOT more than planned. And a lot more involved with the people dealing with it. Ryuzaki, for one. Apparently he's the renown detective L? An eccentric guy, and impossible to read at that. Against her original plans, Y/N joins in this unsettling yet surprisingly entertaining case and its Task Force.

People often say things happen due to fate or destiny, others say it's just coincidence, while some claim it's due to someone, or something, causing it to happen. Until recently, Y/N just lived their life peacefully, moving every so often due to their parents work. They tried not to get attached to anyone so they wouldn't end up hurt, or hurting someone else once they move again. After meeting certain people though, will they have to move so often? I'm gonna try and make this sorta slowburny, but with my writing style, I'm sure that won't be an issue. I'm also gonna try to keep this as gender neutral as possible, so please let me know if I've accidentally used the wrong pronouns or something throughout the story!!
