Switched [L x Reader AU] ? Death Note

After Ryuga was told off by Watari for getting into that fight, he was left to talk to you. You wanted to get information out of him. You knew he didn't have the best communication with Ryuzaki and L, so you wanted to try and help with that.

"Ryuga, do you have better access to the inner world?" You asked, putting some tea on the coffee table in front of him.

"Yeah, more or less. I can go deeper than the other two" he replied.

Ryuga was so... casual. Ryuzaki and L would do that thing where they sat all curled up, and they both spoke with little to no slang but Ryuga....

He leaned forward to grab the tea and when he leaned back in his seat, he crossed a leg over the other. You'd never seen that body sit like that before.

"Woah-" you laughed.

Ryuga raised an eyebrow at you.

"Never seen the body to that before"

"I don't know what it is with Ryu and L, they just HAVE to be all curled up. I don't mind either way though" he replied, sipping his tea.

You sat down opposite him and warmed your cold fingers up on the warm tea cup as you took a sip.

"Anyway, if you have better access to other parts of the inner world, do you know if there's any other alters in there?" You asked.

"Definitely. I've seen at least two. I can't tell much about them but one of them has been showing up more and more. If Ryuzaki doesn't take a break and de-stress I think this alter will start to front in an attempt to relive the stress" Ryuga explained.

"Interesting, I'll keep that in mind. And what about you? You're a trauma holder?"

He sighed, obviously not happy with the memories he held.

"Yeah... Ryuzaki and L know the broad strokes of what happened to us, but I know all the details. I remember most of it so well. The only things we dint remember as a system are the memories filed as a flashback. I can't talk about it or I'll definitely trigger someone... but I won't stand by and let us be beat down over and over again. Even if it hurts someone else, the others need to learn to stick up for themselves"

You had a suspicion that the system maybe have been a child abuse victim, and Ryuga pretty much just confirmed that. It made sense if he had the memories. He'd obviously hold a lot of anger toward violence. But it's a double edged sword, he's angry at those who abuse, but in order to defend yourself sometimes you have to hurt someone back.

"What do you look like Ryuga?" You asked.

"A bit taller than the body, probably 6.2". I have brown hair, ends at about jaw length, side fringe, green-grey eyes. I'm more muscular than the body, my voice is different too. I have a bit of an accent, I'm not sure what, but it's not British like L and Ryuzaki"

You tried to picture him, he was definitely different from the body. It was always hard to picture someone off description only.

"But, I have a similar face shape to the body, similar skin tone and similar shoulders" he continued.

"Woah, pretty different form the body huh?" You stated.

"Very. But hey, the more unique the better"

He finished his tea, placing the empty mug on the table. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of the jeans the body was wearing.

"Ryuga, I know communication can be hard... but I think it's be beneficial for you, Ryuzaki and L if you tried to talk more" you said.

"But Ryuzaki is such a naggy guy. And L's so shy it's like talking to a baby cat. They give you a cute look then hide away" he sighed.

"I know, but the better communication the safer things will be. I get Ryuzaki can be a bit naggy but he'd just trying to protect everyone. It's his job. And L... well he's the original personality, all those bad memories you have were inflicted on him to begin with. He's going to be a bit closed odd and shy at first, it's what he was taught. But I can say for sure that when he gains the trust he's so much more chill"

Ryuga thought for a moment. He knew that you were right, and he should be making an effort. It may be annoying for him, it might hurt for a bit, but in the long run it's for the better.

"Alright, I'll try" He caved.

"It'll be worth it I promise"

He looked like he was about to say something, but he started to zone out and dissociate. You watched as he looked confused then out of it, then suddenly snapped back to reality.

"Someone trying to front?" You asked.

"No... I just... don't recognise that voice" he said, shaking his head back into reality.

"Odd, maybe keep an eye on that"

"We will, Ryuzaki and L definitely heard that too they won't shut up now"

You giggled a little, the thought of all these alters in sudden confusion slightly amusing.

"You know... (y/n)..." he began.

"Yeah?"

"You're pretty chill. I like you"

"Thanks, you're not that bad yourself.

He started to dissociate again, putting his head in his hands.

"Ugh, sorry Ryuzakis trying to pull be back in. I think I'm about to be torn a new one" he said.

"That's fine. You should talk to him. Let L out"

"You're right, see ya"

With that, there was an almost instantaneous switch. Within seconds the body picked its head up again and you were met with the smile of L fronting.

"Well that was interesting" he giggled.

"It certainly was" You relied.

"Well we have time to kill until Ryuzaki comes back to work... wanna make more cakes?"

"Definitely"
