"I'm serious L, you need some sleep" you said.

"But-"

"No buts! Ryuzaki won't put the body to sleep so you have to!"

"But I like talking to you!" L whined.

"I know, I like you too but I've seen how stressed and dissociated you've been today. You guys need to rest, you know full well what could happen"

He sighed in defeat, knowing you were right. Ryuzaki seemed to be resting in the inner world because L has been out all day. The two of you didn't get much case work done, and Ryuga showed up for a few minutes but no sign of Ryuzaki today. You were glad, he needed his rest.

"I'll finish up the work, you get some sleep"

You looked up at him to find him zoned out again.

"L!"

He snapped back into reality, knowing that you'd use what just happened against him if he tried to fight back.

"Huh- oh. Fine, I'll go to bed. Goodnight (y/n)" L said, getting up to go to bed.

"Goodnight!" You replied.

You turned to your work, but weren't able to focus. You didn't want to worry the system, but today they seemed... off. They were very very dissociated today. And every so often L would mention hearing a voice he didn't recognise. You knew the circumstances of this case could possibly cause flashbacks, panic attacks, splits, the formation of a new alter, system bleeds, and so much more. So you'd kept a close eye on him. Not to mention hanging out with each alter was so... fun but confusing. You couldn't deny that you'd definitely developed feelings for at least one person in the system. Who exactly it was you didn't know, hell it could be more than one. But you'd never dated a system before, so you weren't sure what to do.

If a singular personality has a relationship with someone with DID, it could go three ways. Date the whole system, date only one alter, date a few alters. Of course in the event of not dating a whole system, you could have other relationships with other alters. You could be dating one alter, but be best friends with another, or a caretaker.

But you didn't want to put more pressure on them my dropping the bomb you had feelings just yet. Something was up within the system and you could feel it. Something was off, and you were waiting until either they fixed it, or that thing happened and passed.

The detective system was so small. Only three personalities had a role. Host, protector, trauma holder. No caretaker, no persecutor, no gatekeeper. It was unusual to have a system that small, you were sure it wouldn't stay that way, as time went on roles would change, new alters would appear. And judging from what the system were saying, someone was in there, just not fully showing yet. And you knew it would happen any day now.

You were ready.

Buy right now, you were sleepy. Deciding it was time for bed, you turned off the computers and went up to your room where you showered and got into some warm pyjamas. Crawling into bed thinking about all the new cakes to make with L when he fronts next.

Meanwhile, someone had awoken in the systems body. It hasn't been long since the body fell asleep but it was awake again. And something felt wrong. It felt... too tall. It felt... grown up. He didn't like it. It was scary. Looking around the room in slight confusion and panic, he scanned for some kind of solution. That's when he spotted a piece of paper taped to the door with a photo of a girl next to it.

He got up, the body was so tall he felt so out of place. Taking the blanket with him he walked over to the paper to read it. It seems someone in the system had thought this through.
