Y/N POV:
He keeps looking at me from the Gryffindor table at me...
I just don't understand why... do I have something in my face? I discreetly moved my hand over my face... no... do I have something stuck between my teeth? I turn to my dorm mate who I'm sitting next to.
-Do I have something in my teeth? I ask. She looks at me, furrows her eyebrows and shakes her head.
-No... why? She asks.
-George Weasley keeps looking at me, and I can't figure out why, I say. Her eyes follow mine and she notices the looks he's giving me.
-How do you know it's George and not Fred? She asks.
-His eyes are more downturned than Fred's... I point out. She looks weirdly at me.
-What? I ask and blush.
-How can you see that? She asks.
-They sat in front of me in herbology... I learned, I say. Truth is, me and George had quite a romantically encounter at the green houses a while back... Well, if happening to water your plants at the same time was considered romantic... I saw his eyes and he smiled a big toothy smile as I accidentally spilled some warm water on his quidditch shirt... and from that moment on, I had fallen for him, utterly and completely.
When I look back at the Gryffindor table, he wasn't looking at me anymore. I quickly decide that if I finish my food before he can leave, I'll go up to him and ask.And just to my luck, I did. I managed to eat dessert before he finished his food. So now I'm walking up to George, as he's sitting with his twin, his other brother, Ron and his friends Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. I stand behind him and clear my voice. They all turn to me and I turn pink in the face.
-Uhm, Hi, I say, immediately regretting my decision.
-Hello, Fred says.
-Could I maybe talk to George for a moment? I ask.
-Yeah, sure, we're not gonna listen in on ya, Fred says and shoves his twins' arm and winks.
-What's up? George asks and smiles.
-No I'm just wondering if.... I just... Did I do something? I ask. George looks at me in shock.
-What? He asks baffled.
-You we're staring at me and I'm just curious to why... I don't have anything in my face, do I? I ask. George laughs and shakes his head.
-No, you don't have anything on your face, love, he says.
-Then what's wrong? I ask. He stays quiet for a while, his eyes darting over me, making me feel self conscious but standing my ground.
-Well... maybe you have something in your face. It's called beauty, he says and smiles at me. I blush and smile.
-W-what? I ask as I try to stop the smile, but failing.
-You're so beautiful that he couldn't stop staring at you! Says Lee loudly from the other side of the table. Everyone around us hushes him.
-What he said, George says calmly.
-Oh, I uh... thank you, George, I say and sheepishly put my hand in my robe pockets, looking down on the ground.
-Y/N, tell me... George says and I look back at him.
-Would you consider going on a date to hogsmeade with me this weekend? He asks. I think my ears turn pink, because he is smiling before I could give him my answer.
-That'd be nice... I smile.
-Excellent! Fred bumps in and turns back on his chair towards me.
-George will swing by your common room at 11 and pick you up Saturday morning! Fred says enthusiastically and puts a hand on George's shoulder.
-Fred! George says embarrassed.4 years later:
It's been 3 years since the battle of Hogwarts. We lost a lot of good wizards that day... we thought we had lost Fred for a moment, but a couple of minutes into mourning his death, he began breathing again. He's now permanently limp in his left leg, and George lost his ear even before the war. They said that they could fix it, but it's for everyone else's sake, so we can tell them apart.
I work as an extra divination professor at Hogwarts after holidays when people start getting sick, and the remaining time I work with the twins in their shop. I love to tell the students stories of how my divinations professor Trelawney warned me about her death and helped the ministry catch more death eaters. I've got many requests to start working at Hogwarts full time by profesor McGonagall. And even though I've said no many times, she still likes to remind me that the offer still stands. And me and George? Well we've been together since that day in the great hall.
But he's been very secretive as of lately.
-George, the left of the store is all stocked up and is ready for tomorrow, I say as I dust my hands off.
-Great work love, he says and gives me a peck on the forehead.
-And soon it's May 2nd, he says.
-What do you mean? It's April 18th? I say confused. He just shrugs and I smile.
-George, what happens on May 2nd? I ask. I get no response as he takes off his working apron, and hangs it beside Freds'. Fred sits in a corner of the store and grins at us.
-George! I laugh as I urge him to tell me what's going on. I walk after him and beg him to tell me, but he won't.
-George pleeeaaaase just tell me! I say as we finally get to the burrow and sit down for dinner.
-It's a surprise sweetheart, he smirks. I gape, before pouting as he hands me the salad.
-You are a mean mean man, I say.
-Oh but you adore me, he says.May 2nd:
It's finally May 2nd. For two weeks George has been finishing every shift at the store with "soon it's May 2nd". And I don't know what that means!
I've been walking on eggshells throughout the day. I didn't know what he had planned. A big prank? A big jump scare? I don't know, cause he won't tell me!
Well, the final customers walk out at closing time, so I follow them to the door and say goodbye, before flipping the sign to 'closed' and locking the main entrance, as well as pulling down the curtains for the front windows. I sigh as everything is done and I look at the clock. The whole day has passed by and nothing has happened. Was he just saying May 2nd was special to torture me? Because I know it's not our anniversary, because that's the 23rd of October. I walk to the back and meet Fred and George standing over their products sample table.
-Hello boys, I say as I hang up my store shirt on a hanger and showing off the shirt underneath. They turn to me and George smiles.
-It's May 2nd. I giggle.
-It is May 2nd, indeed, I say as I grab the last few things before we leave. George hangs up his apron and kisses my cheek before grabbing his coat and a hat.
-Ooh, what a fancy hat, I compliment.
-Thank you. Got it for today, he says. I furrow my eyebrows at him.
-Alright guys! Have fun and be safe, see ya later! Fred says as he leaves by floo powder in the chimney.
-What? I ask.
-Y/N there's something I want to show you, George says as he opens the back door.
-How far is it? I ask as I anxiously eye the chimney and floo powder. I don't want Molly to become worried.
-Not far. I'll buy us food for the occasion, George takes off his hat and puts it to his chest as he dramatically points outside with the other one.
-M'lady, he says. I giggle as we leave and lock the door behind us.And George did what he said, we walked past a restaurant and ordered take out and we're eating on a rooftop looking over diagon alley. Lights light up the main road as people are still bustling to buy food, groceries and couples who are sitting outside on dates.
A fresh spring breeze flows us buy as I sigh happily over the food.
-This is nice George. Thank you, I say and look at him as he cleans around his mouth with a napkin. The hat he wore before now lays neatly on the grass beside him.
-Well, it's May 2nd, he says.
-I still don't understand what's so special about today, I say.
-Oh no... I then say in horror.
-Don't tell me I missed your parents' wedding day! I say. George laughs.
-No no, it's not today, he says.
-Oh... I say with my brains full of thoughts. I look back to diagon alley and see people walking left and right. I think about today's date... it's not his birthday... nor mine... maybe it was one of his brothers birthdays? No, Molly would've tied him into a chair to be there and celebrate...
-George, I don't get it, what's so special about- I cut myself short as I see that George has changed positions. He's standing on one knee, one hand holding his hat that he cluthes to his chest and in the other he is holding a beautiful ring.
-May... 2nd... I say slowly.
-George, what? I ask.
-I've been planning this for almost a year now... but I always chickened out in the last second... So I decided to set a date up for myself where I told myself I'm going to do this. So I'm going to put it shortly; Y/N L/N do you want to marry me? George asks. Tears surface and I put a hand on his cheek. I nod.
-Yes George... Yes I want to marry you, I say as tears come falling down. George puts the ring carefully on my finger before I lean towards him and kiss him. When we pull away, George looks me dead in the eyes.
-Now beautiful... you're mine, he says.
-I'm all yours... god I love you, I say as my tears stain his cheeks.
-I love you too, he says before when kisses me softly.A year later:
There he stands. He looks happily at me. Tears shine as they fall from his eyes onto his freckled cheeks. I feel my own cheek and there are my own tears. I receive a napkin from my maid of honor and dry them carefully, before doing the same to him. It was truly idyllic. His eyes shine as the sun hits them just right. His hands feel soft as they hold mine. His words flow through the air like a bird's song. I smile as our last vows are exchanged and he carefully lifts my veil.
-You May now kiss the bride, the priest says.
George doesn't skip a heartbeat. He immediately pulls me towards him and kisses me just right. I put my hands on his chest as he holds me by my waist.-God you're so beautiful... I can't stop staring at you... George says and I smile.
-It's May 2nd... I smile. He smiles back.
-It's truly May 2nd, he says and kisses me again.
