Bucky's POV
But then I heard Sam whisper, "look." I followed his wide eyes and was shocked at the sight.
"Angel?..."
Nothing that had surrounded her previously had survived. No machines, no Strucker. Nothing. But she was there. She was floating a couple of inches off the ground. Her wings outstretched. Her glow lightly shining. But her eyes, her eyes weren't their normal color, they glowed yellow.
We didn't move a muscle, unsure of what to do. The scepter was still in her body, but it was if she didn't recognize it. Her face was stone. No emotion, no pain. After a moment she looked down to the scepter. Without hesitation she removed it from her body in a quick gesture, tossing to the floor beside her. She looked straight at us, through us again, as if we weren't there.
It was Tony who first spoke up. "(Y/N)?" She tilted her head as if noticing us there for the first time. When she straightened her head after a second, she closed her eyes and tilted her head up to the roof. Then everything faded. The wings disappeared in a shimmer with her glow, and she fell to the floor lifelessly.
I immediately ran to her side and cradled her in my arms. Shaking her I called her name but got no reaction. I looked up to Steve as he approached me, anguish in my features. I can't lose her. Not again. I noticed behind him as Sam picked up the scepter before making his way towards us. Tony pushed through Steve and stood at my side. "JARVIS check for vitals." Fear clearly evident in his voice.
"I'm reading a very weak heartbeat." JARVIS replied. I let out a half sob half chuckle hearing the words. She's alive.
"Give her to me, we need to get her on the jet." Tony says, I know he's right, but a part of me doesn't want to let go. Unwillingly I let her go as Tony carries her limp frame against his. "Get your asses to the jet as quickly as possible, we need to get her back to the tower." Tony said as he stood up.
"Start the jet Romanoff. We have (Y/N). She's hurt. Tell Banner to prep a stretcher." I heard Tony say through the earpiece as he flew out of the room.
I ran the fastest I have ever run before. Letting my fear propel me as quickly towards the jet as possible. Everything around me a blur. I couldn't bear to not be by her side. After everything we've been through, after everything we've suffered, I needed to be by her side.
Once I reached the jet, I can see the team surrounding her body. I see tears in Natasha's eyes, and I fear I came too late. I run up to the stretcher, but I can see small shallow breaths. She looks so pale. Like she's so far gone, but I shake that thought from my mind. I watch frozen in place as Banner tries to stop her bleeding, crimson red staining his hands.
"We're all here. GO!" Steve yelled as soon as he jumped into the jet, running up beside me. Natasha sprang at his words, launching herself into the seat and making the jet launch into the air.
"What happened? Who did this to Lady (Y/L/N)?" Thor practically growled, he removed himself from beside her body coming up to Tony, Steve and I.
"She did it to herself..." Tony's words were broken and soft. He glanced down at the crimson on his iron suit, and immediately stepped out of it, as if not wanting to be near proof that she had bled in his arms.
"What? Lady (Y/N) would never..." Thor's words faded as Sam threw the blood-stained scepter on the floor by his feet. "She did. With that piece of shit." Sam's anger wasn't aimed at Thor, not even towards the scepter. I understood his anger, I felt it as well. That we couldn't stop it. That we just stood there and watched.
