A month had flown by. Between falling back into a usual training routine, working on my new powers, and spending alone time with Bucky; everything felt quite normal. But I couldn't shake the vision that I recurrently got. It haunted my dreams at night. When I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, Bucky just soothes me to sleep. Never asking questions about the nightmares, a gesture I appreciate with my whole heart.
I can't fight the nagging feeling that something is coming, that we need to prepare ourselves for something beyond all of our control. That's why I continue to train so hard, even though we haven't had much to do lately. I have found myself reaching out, trying to find special people like us. Knowing deep down we would all be needed.
I was scouring my papers when Bucky came into the room. "Hello my darling. Working hard? Or. Hardly working?"
Laughing I lift my gaze from my papers and pull him in for a kiss, "I guess you could say both. Done training for today?"
He smiles that heart stopping smile at me and then smirks. "Yeah, and I'm taking you out tonight."
"Oh. Is that so Sargent? Where are you taking me?" I stand from my chair and push him down to sit on the table, pressing myself against his frame. His eyes glint with amusement and he bites his lip as get as close to him as I possibly can.
"That's for me to know, and for you to find out doll." His hands sneak around my waist, and I shiver at his touch, his words sultry and teasing.
Pulling away from his hold I joke, "well then maybe I should go and investigate. I'm sure I can get some intel from Steve or Sam." I immediately see the pain in his face, and he runs up and grabs my arms, pulling me hard against his body.
"No. No need for intel. Just – let me surprise you doll." His face explored mine, hoping his words convinced me. I took the opportunity to let my lips crash against his. He moans upset when I pull away from the kiss.
"Alright. No intel. But you at least need to tell me what to wear. I can't go on a proper date without knowing the dress code."
"I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect doll. You're not getting a clue from me. Meet me in the garage at 7." He grabbed me in for another breathtaking kiss and then left me there in the office, completely dumbfounded. My breath completely taken from my lungs. This man will be the death of me.
-.-.-.-
I hadn't seen Bucky around for the rest of the day, as I finished the last final touches in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel anxious and nervous. Although we've known each other for years and been together so long. It was very few and far in between times we ever actually went out on a date. The butterflies in my stomach didn't settle as I pulled my leather jacket on and headed towards the garage.
Walking into the garage I found Bucky, leaning against his bike, looking too damn handsome to be taken out in public. He cut his hair, short, reminding me of a younger more carefree Bucky. But he kept his stubble, which made him look dangerous and rough. He was wearing jeans and a black t-shirt, one too tight that accentuated his muscles just right, and a leather jacket that he currently had draped over his shoulder.
"Well do my eyes deceive me? Or is this James Buchanan Barnes standing before me?" I say, a huge smirk plastered on my face as I approach him.
"Oh. It's me alright doll." He winked back, his grin spreading as I approached him. Pinning him against his bike I run my hands through his short hair. He closes his eyes at my touch, enjoying it.
"You cut your hair." I murmur softly, taking in his new look. His eyes open, landing their sights in mine. I see desire I his eyes, but also something else I quite can't place.
