We're doing everything that married couples do.

Living together, having kids, building a house.

So what the hell is taking him so long to propose?

"Did I strike a nerve?" Iruka watches me as I realize I'm frowning.

"Just wondering when he's going to ask me to marry him."

He looks down at his lap and shrugs his shoulders slightly.

"Maybe he's just waiting for the perfect moment."

I chew on the inside of my cheek, pursing my lips in thought.

"Maybe."

"Don't rush this. Everything else just kind of happened. And I get that. But don't rush this Ari. Trust me, you won't wanna do that."

As annoying as it is, he's probably right. When the time comes for Kakashi and I to say I do, we'll know it.

"So? Any names?" He interrupts my thoughts.

I laugh, placing my hand on my belly and rolling my eyes.

"Iruka, I am so unprepared for this baby. A name is the least of my worries." I joke.

"The only thing we've bought is a baby blanket that Kakashi picked up from a thrift store."

His eyebrows shoot upwards as I confess.

"You know the baby does actually come out of you at some point and it's going to need things, right?"

I reach over and gently smack his arm for being smart with me.

"I know, I know. It's just I'm anxious about the house being done on time and it's kept me from buying anything for the nursery. But that's what I'm going to do after I get out of here."

Frankly, I'm tired of being in and out of the hospital.

"I'll help you. I've raised a few kids in my days." He laughs. "I know what you need and what you don't."

I feel a bit of relief knowing that I have Iruka to help me with anything I might struggle with.

"Just get your man's card and we'll spoil my nephew the way he deserves."

I laugh, shaking my head. "You know, I have money too."

"Yeah, but I'm sure daddy Kakashi would want to fund the baby shopping spree." He teases.

"That's true." I yawn loudly.

"You should get some rest. Before your boyfriend comes and attacks you with questions."

I adjust the pillows under my head, fluffing them a bit.

"You're probably right."

Iruka stands from the bed and walks over to the couch in the corner of the room.

"I'll be right here if you need anything Ari."

"Thanks Iruka."

As soon as I feel his familiar hand softly caressing his thumb along the side of my face, I blink my eyes open, pushing the sleep out of them.

"Hi, my love." His mask is tugged down, resting just below his lips. I immediately smile back at him.

"Heard you took a fall?" Kakashi looks down at me, eyes somewhat worried but calmer than I would've thought.

His other hand comes up to cradle my face.

"You scared me." He leans forward, pressing his lips against mine.

"I'm sorry honey. But the baby is okay."

He nods his head, placing a hand over my blanket covered belly.

"Sakura told me she's been monitoring him. But you hit your head."

He reaches his hand up, stroking his thumb right next to my stitches.

"Just a mild concussion."

I try to sound nonchalant about it so he doesn't get worked up, but he runs his hand through his hair anyway.

"Akari, I don't think you should work."

I shake my head quickly before he even finishes his sentence.

"I can't just sit at home-"

"I don't care. I won't argue about it. Sakura pulled me aside and told me that this pregnancy was going to be difficult if you didn't take it easy. Because of everything you were dealing with in the beginning."

He keeps his voice calm and sweet. Making it impossible for me to disagree with him.

Regardless of whether I like it or not, it's better and safer for our son if I just rest the next few months.

"Fine. I won't argue it. I actually agree with you."

His eyes soften as the corners slightly crinkle upwards into a smile.

"You do? Okay, good. I was prepared to fight you on it."

I move my hand to stroke his face.

"I would never purposely put our son in harms way. If Sakura says I should rest until he comes, then that's what I'll do."

"He's the most important thing now." Kakashi says in a low voice, he takes my hand in his, planting a soft kiss against my fingers.

"He absolutely is." I agree.

____________

"You could name him after Naruto." Iruka jokes.

"Hell no. One Naruto in this world is enough." Kakashi says without a second thought.

He turns the page in his book, reading on in the chair next to my bed.

"I want his name to have meaning." Kakashi says.

"I agree. Something that makes sense for why we named him the way that we did."

Iruka nods his head, staring off as he brainstorms.

"Well, what would you say this baby is to the both of you?"

"A blessing." Kakashi says softly.

"The love of our lives? A gift." I smile.

"A surprise." I add, giggling quietly.

"Keitaro." Kakashi says looking up from his book.

He closes it, placing it on the bed next to my leg.

"Keitaro means huge gift."

He looks over at me, sitting forward and putting a hand over my tummy.

"What do you think?"

I look down at his hand, gently smiling down at it.

"Keitaro, a huge gift." I say. "I love it."

"Keitaro." I repeat.

Kakashi leans forward to kiss me on my forehead.

"I love him already."
