Sorry if this is a little short but I wanted to get it up so you all could read. Updates will start to slow down now that I'm back at school. So don't panic if I don't update in a week. It'll be up before the second week ends I promise. My classes are going to be more like a full time job this semester so please bear with me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter. Be prepared!

Everything was happening in slow motion or at least it was in my mind. I could see all that had happened in the last day crumbling. If Grant hurt or even killed Dominic that would be it. Michael would have his head and leave me to endure the rest of his wrath.

I felt conflicting emotions in those few seconds where I thought my world was going to change.  What I felt was really enlightening as well. I didn’t want Grant to die but I didn’t want Dominic to either. My wolf howled at me at the mere thought. I figured out that my wolf wanted Dominic to be my mate a couple days ago yet I tried to push it to the back of my mind. It didn’t make since to me. He was a hunter, sworn to destroy my kind. But then he says things and does things that makes me think that he was different.

I made a move to stop Grant but I knew I reacted to late. Why did Dominic not move? Why was he not leaving the room or drawing a weapon? There was no way he was just going to let Grant attack him.

Then it all stopped. Grant was as far as he could go with the chains restraining him and Dominic didn’t flinch. He didn’t even look scared or angry. Their faces and bodies were mere inches apart. Grant growled and pulled against the chains with everything he could to get his hands on Dominic. Dominic…just stood still.

“Grant are you out of your mind?!” I said running to stand in between the two boys. There wasn’t much room and Dominic’s warm breath on the back of my neck didn’t help things. I pushed Grant back bit by bit. He resisted all movements but I eventually got him back. “What do you think you are doing?” I asked my voice no longer panicked. No, it had slipped into anger.

“If it weren’t for these chains I would have killed that hunter. He deserves everything coming to him,” he replied glaring at Dominic over my shoulder. Dominic didn’t make a move to come closer or say anything. Probably smart on his part.

“Stop it. Did you even think about the consequences of your stupid actions?” I asked placing my hands on my hips. Grant’s eyes slipped to me as his face went blank as he tried to think of what I would want him to say. After a few long seconds of silence, I continued. “No…well let me tell you Grant. If you would have killed him than you yourself would have been killed for doing so. Leaving me here to defend myself against any remaining wrath that Michael would surely possess.” And my wolf would be destroyed because you killed her mate, my wolf added with a small grunt.

Grant rubbed the back of his neck, his head following forward in shame. I know he wasn’t thinking but now I had made him feel worse. He needed to hear it though. I sighed and turned to face Dominic who had a small smirk on his face. I shook my head at him before taking the tray from his hands. “Thanks,” I mumbled.

“No problem,” he said. I thought he would leave after I took the tray but he stayed around the door, shifting back and forth between feet. He obviously had something else to say but he was holding back. I’m not sure if it was because Grant was in the room or just the fact that we were both shifters. His actions earlier had hinted that he was helping me and that must be hard for him. He was thinking about going against everything he knows and his father. His father may be a douche but he was still his father.
