Nia’s POV

It had been two weeks since the first beating and it wasn’t the last I received. Michael didn’t tape them all but that didn’t make him any less brutal. I still haven’t healed completely from any of them though they have scabbed over slightly.

Michael had decided to take a little back on how much drugs I was given. He thought that the drugs might not let me feel the extent of my wounds but he was wrong. I felt everything. All my muscles ached. My scars burned with the smallest of movements. My throat felt raw from all the screaming I’ve done in the past weeks and dried blood clung to my skin. I’m sure I looked horrible.

I laid my head back against the wall that I was sitting against. Michael and Dominic had left a few hours ago after their most recent beatings but this time instead of a whip, Michael used a knife, slicing any skin he could reach.

Dominic did what he usually did which meant he stood behind the camera and never looked at me. I’d long forgotten the boy I thought would help me. Whenever he came into the room, all I saw was another hunter. There were moments when I would slip and dream that Dominic would turn around and save me but I shook myself from those thoughts.

The blood flowing from my wounds had slowed down and I didn’t even look down at myself. I knew that there was nothing appealing about the view. If I didn’t die by Michael’s hand, I’m sure that I’d die of an infection. Perhaps it’d be a better death.

I was shaken from my morbid thoughts by the sound of the door opening. I turned my head to the side seeing Dominic shuffle through the door. In his hands were a big bag and a stack of clothes. He glanced at me briefly before walking to my cot and placing the clothes and the bag on the floor beside it. Slowly he made his way to squat down in front of me. I stared back at him with blank eyes. I couldn’t read his expression. He was always so good at guarding how he was feeling.

“I need to move you to the cot,” he said plainly reaching for my arm. I moved it slightly away from him even though that small twitch made me almost whimper in pain. HE stopped and looked up at me.

“Why don’t you just leave me alone? Can’t you see that you and your father have done enough to me for today,” I said venom in my voice but it barely registered because of how hoarse it sounded. Dominic’s eyes turned a bit harder before letting out a breath.
