That is a complicated thing for sure. On one hand, yes it is their fault and they should be punished, but on the other, they won't, most likely, have the bolt since it's in the underworld, and since the bolt is still therefore not with Zeus, the war would still break out. It just gives people a mortal to pin all the blame on since gods can't steal another god's sacred item. Even if the thief tells Zeus that it wasn't Posiedon, I don't think Zeus would believe them or that it would change much as there would still be a scouring of the earth and beyond for the bolt. By finding the thief we really just ruin their life beyond repair. At least now they've been able to see where their stupidity would lead the world.

Hermes had the more positive part as his answer, "I don't believe finding the thief changes the predicament, that being that the bolt is missing."

Your honor might be on the line instead of your life, but the adrenalin is still just as high. If you don't do well in capturing the flag, then you're going to die when you are running for your life for the eighth consecutive day, your adrenaline has run out, and the blood loss is getting to you. I'd love to see you there Miss Pacifist because I've seen people far younger than you push on and one is a firm believer of the competitive, high stakes, low rewards game you are so keen on getting rid of because of its ability to make you have those decisions that feel like they could get you killed if you chose wrong. Your aim's off, your block is weak, and your stamina is subpar. I've seen you out there, and you are pathetic."
