Who's Thalia?

Oh, boy. This is gonna be rough.

"Gods, half an hour wouldn't have killed me. Has every one of them been this nosy?" The newly returned escape asked.

"Pretty much," Princess answered.

Prissy added with false cheerfulness, "Especially the last two. Which seemed to spill our deepest, darkest secrets for all of camp to further pick apart and make assumptions about. It's Grover's turn."

"Baaa, don't remind me," the half goat groaned as he made his face at home with his arms on the table.

You're not the first half-blood I was sent to protect

"So, Grover, I've been wondering what qualifications do you need to be sent after demigods," Prissy started but interrupted when it seemed like Grover was panicking, "You know 'cuz it seems a little smarter to just send another demigod after them. It's less of a shock, which could be scary, of your friend having hooves. Plus, they spend all their time training to fight monsters and obviously have too much built-up energy to blow by having fire blown at them. Why not send them? Everyone I've met wants to go see the real world for a while. I mean, it kind of sounds like a prison when you put it that way."

"Percy!" Grover cut him off.

For the record, yes I picked up on the fact that I was who he was referring to by the pent up energy. I have drilled it into him, literally, that I want the chance to prove myself. I guess I never thought about how much he could have internalized that.

Chiron took over from there, "Demigods hold too much power. They can go wherever they please, challenge whoever they please. Only a demigod can go into a god's domain and challenge them however they please. That's why the theif of the masterbolt had to be a demigod.

"As such, I can't allow demigods free reign of the world. It has caused too much destruction throughout history. It puts you all at risk as much as it puts countless mortals at risk of the cross fire.

"You all attract monsters, so sending a femigod who knows it after one who doesn't is just putting that demigod in more danger."

Like keeping us here is safer? I can't help but pull up the last time the safety and prosperity of our welcoming home was brought up.

But that's the thing. It really is our home. Despite the danger, despite the animosity, despite the fact that people don't feel like they belong in their cabin, we all feel like we belong at camp. Things might need to change to fix some things, but this is still our home. Maybe because this is the only place we've ever known where we have been promised a safe place to sleep and a meal in the morning. Maybe because Chiron has been entrusted with our supervison at all times, but this place is a safe haven. Even if we too often take that for granted and try to destroy it from within.

"And the council of Cloven Elders assigns who goes after the demigods Chiron bring to their awareness. If they determine the demigod a possible threat to tranquility, then we are sent to retrieve them. For the destructive nature of powerful demigods and the monsters that strive to kill them are able to be contained within the boarders. Monsters aren't magnetized to them, and the destruction stays here in a ten acre section being constantly restored by the combined power of a dead warrior and a god.

"As for the credidentials, I guess you just have to be desperate. Desperate or stupid I suppose." Grover ended lamely.

Salena put her mediphor—too long of a word— fake mom cap back on," You are a lot of things, Grover. A lot of amazing, incredible things, but stupid is not one of them."
