"Yeah, man. A little passafist at times, but you are loyal as all get out, and you found a way to like me when no one else even cared to try. Thank you, man," Percy said all sappily.
The one thing I can agree with: Percy Jackson is hard to like.
Grover stood up and I figured it was about darn time somebody broke a rule 'round here when he went and careened into Percy knocking them both to the ground before taking the seat next to him. They collectively shoved Posiedon to the end which I found funny.
He looked only slightly peeved in being forcibly moved in favor of a goat. That is a valiant effort in terms of schooling one's face.
The silence was a peaceful one this time as Grover was able to be heard mumbling a thank you to Percy which set the whole flowery princess table off into awning and fawning like you wouldn't believe. Photos were taken. Dignities were forever crushed, never to be redeemed. It was a slaughter of the truly scary type.
I couldn't help but notice, in my aggressive attempt to avoid looking at the carnivorous flowers, that Luke—screw it all, soccer mom, heh— was just studying the grain of the table seeming with no intention of speaking of any opinion on the matter. Which I thought was odd, but I guess he's once again trying to remain under the radar.
Princess, on the other hand, was sitting in a squirming way that made it appear to anyone who didn't know her that she had to pee really bad.
On a side tangent are the fates gonna let us leave if we have to pee? Or is that just not something we have to deal with? Like, is time stopped, but we're still breathing and our hearts are still beating? Are our digestive systems juts on a temporary pause? Wouldn't that, like, allow a bunch of toxins to just keep circulating in our blood stream? Ahh, whatever.
I got distracted.... oh well. Yeah she was anxious like no tomorrow when it came to wanting to talk. I had to wonder why she wasn't just blurting it out.
The whole camp respects her, and is used to listening to barked orders, enough to stop when she speaks, so why doesn't she just say what's got her so worked up?
I'll never know because she let the song continue as the fawning died to a minimum.
I should have told you but but I thought if I did
You'd never want me on this quest
"First off, man, if you ever say something like that again, I will have to think you might be stupid after all, and secondly, I don't care if you killed the president I would still drag your fluffy butt along."
"I have genuinely no idea if that was a complement or an insult, but thanks. I think."
If you knew what a failure I really am
Ask Annabeth, she knows
Nevermind on that anxious energy on the edge of explosion, the spark just hit the keg.
"Grover Underwood! By all the gods in this superficial room, if you still believe yourself a failure after you succeeded in retrieving Percy then you are a lier. If you think that Luke, I, or even Thalia blame you of all people for the insane circumstances you persevered through then you are simply a fool. If you consider yourself worthing of anything less than that searchers license you've taught after then you are a coward who probably doesn't even want it. An imposter is who you'd be because I remember a satyr with a heart of gold and a goal in his heart who was willing to drag along two hard headed idiots knowing full and well we would be detrimental to not only getting Thalia to safety but your own life's agenda all because you are the most compassionate being alive. I remember a goat sitting with me for hours trying to coax me away from that tree and to move on with my life because one can't live in the past for long when our lives are so short as it is. I remember a beaming smile when my determination won out over your own and I convinced you that you saved Percy's life just as much as he saved yours. That you are our protector just as much as you are ours. You were assigned to protect us and take us back, but you decided to befriend us and make us feel at home. You didn't have to be amazing, Grover. You chose to be."
