I didn't even mean to do this, but I also uploaded on the 27th of last month! Look at that :D
Keralis greeted the pair with a signature bright smile when he opened the door. "Great costume you guys! Welcome!" He was dressed at the Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington and Bdubs knew from pictures that xB would be around dressed as Sally.
Bdubs grinned as he and Doc followed him inside to the Halloween party.
It was October 31st and despite the city lights masking them, Bdubs knew the sky was full of stars. Doc had to assure him multiple times that he did indeed want to go to the party this year, and that he wasn't lying this time.
"It was my idea," Doc laughed. He was wearing a white toga that sat just above his knees. He had golden sandals, white wings, and a golden laurel wreath.
To contrast, Bdubs was wearing a dark red button-up with a black vest and matching black trousers. A devil tail was connected to his belt and he had horns above his bandana. He added the devil wings last minute.
As they sat down on one of the couches, Bdubs' eyes were drawn to the movie playing. It had been a while since he watched the movie with the three witches appearing in the 90s. Meanwhile, Doc leaned over to snatch some candy from the center table.
It didn't take too long for the other guests to arrive. Not only did the people from last Christmas come - Etho, Iskall, Beef, and Hypno - but Tango and Mumbo showed up as well. Then Pearl, Gem, and Xisuma.
While everyone began to chat and eat, Bdubs pulled Tango - who was dressed as Robin to match Mumbo's Batman - aside. "I haven't had a chance to talk to Impulse lately. How's he doing with his new job?"
"He said there were a few bumps but he's doing great. I told him we and Keralis are doing alright as well," Tango explained. "How about you? I wish you told me that Scar shit was happening again."
Bdubs sighed, leaning against the wall. "I know I should've but everything's fine now. Promise," he assured him.
Tango raised an eyebrow. "Even though there's a high chance our business is going to directly compete against his?"
He cringed but forced a smile. "It's- It's gonna be fine. We'll be fine."
Relaxing, Tango patted his shoulder. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you like this during a party."
"Hey, it's okay. I get it. We can talk about this more later, with Keralis."
"Deal."

Bdubs found Doc talking with Gem, who was wearing a llama costume. She was explaining how she made it herself, and all the little details she added 'just because she could'.
"You look awesome!" Bdubs piped up, standing beside his boyfriend.
"Thanks!" She giggled. "Y'know at first I wasn't so sure, but now that it's finished, I really like it. You both look great too! I love the matching costumes."
Grinning, Bdubs raised his elbow to lean it on Doc's shoulder, but he easily shrugged it off so he could do it instead. He listened as Doc began to explain their argument over what their cat Tugger should be dressed as. Bdubs had wanted him to match Doc, but Doc wanted him to match Bdubs.
"So what did you guys decide on?" Gem laughed.
Bdubs pulled out his phone and showed a picture.
"We ended up finding this cute dolphin costume!" He explained, which only made her laugh harder.

A gravestone decoration in the corner of the dining room sparked a memory.
Bdubs fondly thought of Halloweens from middle school and high school. Regardless of if it was a school night or not, they'd sit in their costumes in the back of a graveyard and watch the sunrise. They'd all just... Talk. About whatever came to mind.
He missed doing it.
Zoning back in, he realized Doc was holding his side just a little tighter. His smile looked more strained and he was speaking less.
His social battery must be drained
Once they finished talking with Mumbo and Pearl, Bdubs pulled him towards the front door, where it was quiet.
"What do you say we get outta here?" He whispered.
Doc only looked more worried. "But we haven't even been here that long. Are you sure you're okay with leaving?"
"You look done," he pointed out, squeezing his hand. "I'm okay when you're okay."
The hybrid went quiet and looked around. "Well, the night's still young, is there anything else you want to do?"
-
"C'mon, it'll be fun!" Bdubs encouraged, giving Doc's hand a light tug.
His smile was illuminated by the moon before he turned back around to guide the hybrid down the side streets.
"You can't even handle scary movies and yet you used to spend Halloween in a cemetery?" Doc laughed in disbelief.
He shrugged. "Well, nothing scary happens in cemeteries, at least from what I've seen."
"Your logic confuses me," he teased as they reached the dreaded place.
It was a fairly small cemetery, most of the graves Doc was able to read didn't have any death date in the current century. Behind the graveyard was a thick wall of trees. He knew on the other side was a tall chain-link fence blocking them from a miniature golf course.
Bdubs let go of his hand and plopped down on a patch of grass near the back corner. He slowly sat beside him and his boyfriend snaked an arm around his.
Despite the chilling feeling that a ghost was going to appear or a savage zombie was going to rise from the ground, it was rather peaceful. The fear in his chest slipped away as he looked down at Bdubs, who was gazing at the stars.
"I love you, Bee, y'know that?" He murmured.
Bdubs met his eyes and pulled him down to kiss his cheek. "I did know that," he lightly teased. "And I love you too."
His heart pounded as he hesitated to ask. He wanted to, but it was scary.
"What's on your mind?" Bdubs whispered, reading his face as always.
"I..." Doc took a deep breath, pulling the hand off his arm so he could squeeze it. "I was wondering, would you- would you ever want to get married? Not- Not now, obviously but like, eventually." His face flushed as he poured out the question that had been eating away at him.
Bdubs' face grew bright red as he squeezed his hand back. "One day, yeah." He had the biggest smile on his face as he gently pressed their lips together.
When they pulled away, the hybrid dipped his head to rest on his shoulder. "Are you gonna do some grand proposal?" Bdubs teased, stroking his hair.
"Maybe," he lightly laughed. "Honestly I haven't even thought too much about the details yet, cause I wanted to make sure it was something you were at least considering first."
A kiss was placed on his head. "I'll be waiting then."

When Bdubs had decided to revisit his old tradition of sitting in a graveyard, he wasn't expecting Doc to ask about his thoughts on marriage. It was funny, though. It never occurred to him to think of them getting married, but he was always thinking of how he did want to spend the rest of his life with Doc.
Somehow, sitting in the graveyard always brought out important questions or confessions.
He couldn't help but hope to keep this tradition revived in the following years.
