(A/N - not gonna lie wrote this really fast an I'm doing my research into the Gucci man so I can hopefully do his one shot next time!! Enjoy reading 😁😁)
Today was going to be the best day of your life, or at least you prayed it was. You were finally going to marry the love of your life, Flip Zimmerman. You had been dreaming of this day since you first met him all those years ago. There was something about him that intrigued you and made you crave his attention. You couldn't wait till he was all yours, and you were all his.
Flip, on the other hand, was dreading this day. Flip loved you, of course, but hated the institute of marriage. He never rallied with those potheads of this time but that was one thing he agreed with. Marriage was going to tie him down to one person and he wanted to be able to still have that freedom, even if he wouldn't have ever cheated on you.
You see, Flip had watched his parents in their marriage. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't perfect either. Ever since he was a little boy, he pledged to never make the mistake of being tied down. Yet here he was, perfecting his tie in the mirror.
"Hey Flip," a voice caught his attention, he turned to see it was one of his partners. "Are you sure you're ready for this?" He asked as he walked further into the room, his suit pressed to a 'tee'. Ron had, personally, always been your favorite. Jimmy was nice but he was a little too out there for you, like what kind of 80 year old smoke weed?
"To be completely honest with you Ron, I'm not too sure." Ron was taken aback by Flip's answer. Everyone knew that Flip never talked about his feelings much. You were usually the only person who ever heard his innermost thoughts.
"It's not like I don't love her, trust me I do, I just don't like marriage. If anything, I hate it."
"Well, why haven't you told (Y/N) that? We both know she'll be accepting of whatever you want to do." Ron finished with patting Flip on the shoulder, his crooked smile on his face. Somehow his words did make Flip feel better, the thought that someone else saw your love for him. That someone else thought the same that he did; you would support him through anything. Little did they know, on the other side of the house, your head was wrapped around completely different thoughts.
As you were putting the finishing touches on your makeup, you couldn't help but have butterflies. The thought of finally being married and being able to start a family, brought pure happiness into your body. There was nothing else more that you wanted in the world than to be Mrs. Zimmerman. A knock on the door brought you out of your thoughts.
"Come in!" You yelled, putting your brush down on the desk next to the mirror. You had assumed either the party planner or your mom had come to see you. So imagine the surprise you had when you saw it was Flip. Your first reaction was to scream and hide yourself from his eyes, so you covered your own face with your hands. Your actions brought a chuckle out of his lips.
"Why are you acting like this?"
"Because the groom isn't supposed to see the bride before they get married! My mom has always said it's bad luck." Flips face dropped, you may not have realized it but your words were making this harder for him by the second.
"Well, since you're here, what do you need?" You said, smiling, as you turned to look him in the eye. He looked absolutely godly to you. You couldn't help your eyes from raking all over his body in his cute little black suit.
"I have something I want to talk to you about, but you have to promise me that you won't hate me." You let out a giggle at his words whilst his heart was beating out of his chest.
"I could never hate you." Though your words would have comforted most, all it did was make him feel even worse. You didn't deserve this, you deserved more.
"Heh yeah sure," you noticed his eyes drop to the ground, something you knew he only did when he was nervous. You also watched him fidget with his hands back and forth. "I-uh I wanted to say that, I don't think I'm ready to get married." Your face dropped as a whirl of emotions came over your body. You couldn't believe the words he was telling you. How could you not be ready to get married, yet go through all this process anyway? How could he lead you on like this?
"Then why?"
"Why wha—--"
"Why put me through all of this," you started pacing around the room, "why would you get my hopes up like this? How long have you known?" Flip swore he could see the steam coming out of your ears, the whole vision terrified him. "Flip would you FUCKING ANSWER ME?!"
"It's been since the beginning, I've known since the beginning." At this point you couldn't hold in the tears that streamed down your face. Your heart felt as if it were actually breaking. You had assumed you had felt true heartbreak before, but he was making you question that thought.
"So all of this was for nothing then, huh? THIS WHOLE THING WAS FOR NOTHING!"
"Look (Y/N), I know you're mad but—"
"NO, you don't have the right to say anything to me! NOT A SINGLE. FUCKING. WORD! NOT AFTER THIS!"
"You're making this bigger than it has to be."
"Am I, Flip? You know my dream has been to get married. You knew that from the GODDAMN beginning!"
"You're not giving me time to explain–"
"BECAUSE YOU DON'T DESERVE IT!" You took off the veil that had been delicately placed upon your head and threw it at him. It hit him right in the nose(A/N - ten points type beat). You then stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind you. All Flip could do was look down at the veil on the ground.
Flip had assumed that this ordeal wouldn't have affected your relationship. Yet, once he got home he noticed that most of your stuff was gone. He felt his heart break a little. He hadn't thought it would turn out this way. He never thought you would leave him. He knew what he did was wrong but he thought you two could grow from it, but he was wrong.
It took you a couple months to forget about everything. Your parents were royally pissed because they were out of a lot of money, but they couldn't blame you. Your friends had tried to cheer you up by taking you out, but it seemed everywhere you turned something reminded you of him. Whether it were the red trucks that would drive by or the flannel the stores were selling. Yet, like every regular breakup, you got over it.
Flip was a different story. He couldn't get you off of his mind and it completely fucked his everything up. He couldn't focus enough to do well during work, nor could he ever get a night's rest without crying at the thought of you. There were so many things that he wanted to say to you but he knew you wouldn't hear him out. Hell, it wasn't like you didn't have a credible cause. He just wished he had the opportunity to go back in time and fix what he did.
Since you had left, his night routine consisted of two things: crying and drinking. He drank to numb the feelings but they were never truly numbed. Ron and Jimmy had tried to help him but he seemed to only want to wallow in his sorrows. He was done for and he knew it. That didn't stop him from continuing to wish he had been better to you, that he had told you at the right time or that he had just shut up and gone with the marriage. It took him a while to realize there was nothing he could have done, but it was too late by that time. You were already happily married, with someone else.
