(A/N): I'm sorry for being gone for so long. School was hell, but now we're on spring break so hopefully y'all will get some updates.

Charlie Barber; you had met him a couple years back when his marriage had first started crumbling. You two had met at a directors gathering. You had always admired his work, so naturally you drifted toward his direction. The two of you talked the night away, both about work and life.

That harmless interaction with Charlie became a full blown affair. You felt terrible about it, but there was something about the way that he held you; you just couldn't help it. Every time he had a fight with Nicole, and every Thursday, became the time you two spend together. The affair wasn't just about sex; there would be sometimes where you'd just talk and cuddle. Hell that's how most of the sex started. There was something that you couldn't resist about his touch and voice.

Though you knew about his family, you still couldn't stop. You felt absolutely disgusting, but he made you feel amazing. The only thing that put a stop in your relationship was your job. You worked in directing, usually in short films for festivals, but you had been offered a new job. This job would not only increase your pay but your notoriety as well. The only problem was that the job was in California, LA to be specific — the place Charlie hates.

"You're leaving me?"

"Charlie, you know it is not like that!"

"Obviously it is," he screamed as he pinned you onto the wall. "You fucking did this on purpose. You know I love you, but because I wouldn't leave Nicole, you're doing this!"

"You love me?" The words left your mouth in a whisper, tears forming in your eyes. Your eyes met his; the calmness of yours being a complete contrast to the fire in his. The only similarity was the pain underneath it all.

"I can't do this. Have fun in LA." With those words he turned around and left, slamming the door on his way out. Your heart broke when he left, and so did his.

You had never imagined you would see him again, so you continued on with your life. It took you a while to get over him; he had become a part of your daily routine, so moving on was hard. Yet within a year of living in LA, you were living the best life you could have ever imagined. You loved your new friends, coworkers, and bosses. Everything was perfect, you couldn't have asked for more.

That's when it happened, when you saw him. It had taken you by surprise to see him at your favorite local coffee shop. He was sitting at a table all alone, working. Well that's what it looked like. Your heart started to race at a million mph, which confused you. Hadn't you gotten over him?

You pretended not to notice him, but then you felt someone's stare. You knew it was his, it was coming from the same direction he was sitting in. On the other hand, Charlie hadn't realized it was you. He knew there was something familiar about you, which was the reason he couldn't take his eyes off you. It had taken him a couple of minutes before it had finally clicked.

The end of the affair had been harder than he had expected it to be. He knew he was in love with you, but he didn't realize how much he relied on you. He tried to replace you with other people, including Mary Ann, but he just couldn't. No one could replace the love you gave him, especially not his wife. You were not only his lover, but his friend as well. He had no one to rant to or discuss things with. For the first time in a while, he was completely alone.

This, of course, made the divorce a thousand times more difficult. All the pent up energy he had from you leaving, he put onto Nicole. A terrible thing to do, but something he couldn't control at the time. He even took it out on the members of his acting troupe, which he felt terrible about. Once the divorce was final, he was able to actually sit and better himself. So when he saw you at the coffee shop, heart racing, he thought the same thing you did.

You told yourself you wouldn't look at him; you would simply walk by looking like a fine snack. This was your time to show him what he missed out on, but your plan was ruined with a tap on your shoulder. You turned to see Charlie standing in front of you. There was a look in his eyes that you couldn't quite shake.

"I know it's been a while, and you probably hate me, but just hear me out," you nodded your head. What could go wrong? "I want to apologize for the way things ended. The stress of my failing marriage made me act the way I did. I felt like the universe was punishing me; finally something amazing was in my hands, but then it was being taken away. I should've never acted the way I did. I know that doesn't excuse my actions, but it at least gives a reason behind them." The word shocked could barely describe how you were feeling. You never expected this, especially from him.

"That was it, so I'm going to go now." Before he could fully turn to leave, you grabbed his hand. "It was nice to see you Charlie. I hope it can happen again." The words had taken you by surprise and you said them, but you meant them. There was a part of you that never let go of Charlie. Though you were thriving, you yearned for him when you were alone. You knew he would eventually come back to you. How? You didn't know.

"Yea me too." With that the barista called out your order. You grabbed and turned to leave, waving to Charlie on your way out. That was the beginning of something beautiful, something amazing, but we'll get to that at another time.
