I hope I haven't completely screwed this up! I muttered internally. They seemed content with that answer and moved on to the next question before asking me, finally, for my pitch on a game.
I let out a small laugh, 'I'm hoping that I'm not the only one that you have spoken to today that will say that I had numerous ideas but couldn't choose which one to pitch to you'.
They all let out a laugh, 'We would just like one Miss Evans. Any one that you think is the best....'
'I've been playing video games for a while and I might not be a connoisseur of what is good or what might make the most money, but I know what is fun. Well, again for me anyway. I know that people have the most fun playing these games when they are interacting with others, whether that be someone who is sitting right next to them or somewhere around the world. My game would be some sort of quest, where the players would have your typical quest like moves and challenges but then also incorporate some virtual reality - obviously there would have to be some equipment design in the process to allow for the motion detection - but players would have to dance or tackle or fence or kick or something of that nature in order to pass that challenge.....' I started, as I moved papers out of the way and begin to sketch out a few things or go through the notes that I had made on the way there. It was like I could see the moves of the DDR machine or Noah picking up Brad and flinging him in the pool, but the game has aspects of the old school that I loved plus the newest technology could be interwoven into part of the game.
I was rambling and eventually they had to cut me off after five minutes, where I blushed. I had either aced it or I had completely blown this. They had been smiling throughout and had been making notes, so maybe that was a good sign?
I let out a deep breath as they told me that they would be deliberating over the coming days and I should have an answer by The end of the week. If successful the program was to start in two weeks. I thanked them for their time and Kate led me out of the room and back into the waiting area.
'Thank you again, I really appreciated it and the opportunity to even interview', I said as she gave me an encouraging smile.
'You did very well, Elle. I was very impressed. I've been working with the other two long enough to know that they seemed impressed too'
'Hopefully that's a good sign then!', I concluded, as I adjusted the bag on my shoulder and she jiggled her head back and forth in the motion which means 'yes, but I can't really say anything'.
'A question Elle?', Kate asked before I walked away and I nodded for her to continue. 'That recount you told of possibly choosing USC over Harvard and Berkeley?'
'All true', I continued. 'To cut a long story short. My best friend, Lee, and I had a pact to go to Berkley together. Our Mum's went there so we wanted to follow. My boyfriend is Lee's brother, Noah, he goes to Harvard....'
'Ah', said Kate nodding. 'I think I can connect the dots'
'Yeah', I murmured as she gave me a supportive squeeze of the hand.
'We'll be in touch Elle. Enjoy the rest of your day!', she said finally before retreating back into the board room and leaving to process whether I not I would be back walking these halls in a few short weeks.

'You still haven't heard anything?', June asked as she put the finishing touches on dinner and I shook my head.
'Nope, but they said by the end of the week. And it's only Thursday' I conceded as I tried to reassure her.
She nodded, trying to hide the frown forming, 'I'm sure there just finalising things before making it official' she concluded as she passed me two bowls, before grabbing some plates and motioning me to follow her.
