Hours passed, but the doctors were still inside the operating room. Jisoo sat outside, tears flowing endlessly, her fragile figure trembling with grief and worry. Her father, Mr. Kim, stood nearby, his face shadowed with guilt and concern. He wasn’t just worried about Taehyung but also about his daughter, who seemed to be crumbling before his eyes.

Inside, Mr. Kim’s mind was a storm of regret. If only I hadn’t stepped into this political world... If only I hadn’t made Kang Jung my enemy... None of this would have happened. But deep down, he knew his actions were his duty—his responsibility to justice.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doors opened, and the lead doctor stepped out.

“Doctor! How is he?” Jisoo’s voice was hoarse and weak, but her desperation was clear.

“He’s stable now,” the doctor said reassuringly. “The bleeding has been stopped, and thankfully, the wound didn’t damage any vital organs. However, he’s weak and needs plenty of rest to recover fully.”

Jisoo exhaled in relief, though tears continued streaming down her face. “Can... can I see him?” she asked, her voice trembling.

The doctor hesitated briefly before nodding. “Only one person at a time.”

Jisoo glanced at her father, who gave her a gentle nod of encouragement. Without wasting another second, she rushed into the room, her heart pounding.

There he was—Taehyung—lying on the hospital bed, his face pale but peaceful. The sight of him brought a fresh wave of tears to her eyes as she approached him.

“Taehyung...” her voice cracked as she reached out to gently hold his hand. “Please wake up. Don’t leave me. I’m so sorry... I was so stupid to tell you to leave me. That’s not what I want. I’ve always wanted you by my side.”

Her tears fell onto the back of his hand as she continued pouring out her heart.

“I still love you, Taetae. I always have... Even when you left, I couldn’t hate you. I told myself to, but my heart refused. When I saw you again after all those years, I wanted to run to you, to hug you and never let go, but I held myself back. I thought I wasn’t enough for you... but now, I can’t hold it in anymore.

Please, Taehyung... wake up. I don’t want to lose you too. I’ve lost so much already. My eomma... and now you’re lying here, and I can’t bear the thought of losing you.”

Her voice cracked as her emotions overwhelmed her. Exhausted, she rested her head on the side of the bed, clutching his hand tightly as sleep claimed her.

Unbeknownst to her, Taehyung had been awake, listening to every word. A soft smile curved his lips as he watched her fragile form beside him. Slowly, he lifted a hand, weak but steady, and gently stroked her hair.

“Jisooyaa,” he whispered, his voice soft but full of affection. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll protect you this time. I’ll stay by your side and love you with everything I have. I promise.”

He leaned forward just enough to press a tender kiss to her forehead before closing his eyes, content with her warmth beside him.

Taehyung had recovered, and life started to feel brighter for both him and Jisoo. Their relationship blossomed into something even more beautiful than before. Despite their painful past, they found joy in every moment they shared.

One Sunday morning, Jisoo busied herself in the kitchen, preparing lunch. After setting the table, she went to find Taehyung.
